Hello

Sounds frustrating!

A couple of things.

white smoke is water vapour
blue smoke is oil
black smoke is rich mixture

The fact you get a shock from the handlebars worries me. The high tension circuit should be a sealed system, coil to plug to earth. Here is a trick. Start the bike in a garage, or somewhere that is pitch black. Look around the coils, plug leads and plug caps for sparks shorting out. I think you have HT power leaking somewhere. Good quality leads and plug caps should fix it if that is the case, but testing in the dark is a good test. Let your eyes get accustomed to the dark before starting the bike up.

All digital displays have a capacitor on the circuit board behind it. See if it is blown at the end or even split.

I need the year, make, and model of your motorcycle please click on the word "COMMENT" below and provide this information in the box that will open and then click on the green comment box in the bottom right-hand corner after it posts I will receive an "ALERT" icon that will allow me to respond to your information. Hi, Jonathan the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee of $15 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available and some were never printed in English. The Indian and Philippine markets are usually in E-book format only, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download.
