remove spark plugs from block, place tread on block, turn over engine, best if blue, white ok, orange spark is bad, if you are getting orange, your ignition system is weak, usually the coil, and needs to be replaced. also make sure to take out the plugs after attempting to start, andmake sure they are wet and getting fuel.

Have you replaced the battery? Some of the cells might of been dameged when it was laid down therefore it will not hold a charge.

the sv runs the speedo from a front wheel speed drive and sometimes the tabs that turn the drive can bend or brake off giving a false reading so i would remove the front wheel and check that the two tabs are in good order and that the wheel drive is aswell.

Have you fitted an after-market full exhaust system?
C44 is the error associated with O2 sensor (aka lamda sensor)
This will occur when after-market exhaust systems are installed.
You would need to have a fabricator weld a 'bung' in the header so you can install the sensor.
Or for track only you could use a simulator

You have a bad battery I believe. if its at least 3-4 years old replace it automatically. If newer, maybe you could test try another battery.

It could be the size of your front tire. Best readings are obtained when you use 120/70/17

sounds like a charging system. same thing happens with cars when the alternator goes kaput. so i would say check your charging system weather it be an alternator or generator.

Yes, both of those could cause overheating. Have a look at the parts microfiche at Ron Ayers, it shows where your thermostat is located in relation to your radiator hoses.

Look for the kick stand safety switch and try jumping it out. That may solve your problem.

If the starter motor is turning but the engine won't start, the first thing I'd check is to make sure you have your fuel petcock in the ON position. It is a rotary switch, usually built into a cylinder housing on the left-hand side of your bike. If you follow the fuel line you'll run right into it.
