Brakes were spongy on my gsx600f so bought braided
Must still be air in the line....
When you bleed the brakes, use a small jar with some brake fluid in it.
From the bleeder nipple to the jar with the brake fluid you need a length of clear plastic tube.
Put the spanner on the nipple, push the plastic tube on the nipple and the other end in the brake fluid in the jar.
Open the bleeder nipple and pump the brake lever until all the air is out, you may have to refill the reservoir while doing this.
If you need to refill the reservoir close the bleeder nipple.
Also check the disk pistons for corrosion, you may have to take them out and clean them.
When you reassemble them use a small amount of silicon grease to lubricate them.
Hope this helps...
OmI just bought a 600
I would definitely do an oil change and drain and clean the gas tank and filter
might be good to check out the tramission fluid and crankcase oil as well if it has been sitting for so long.
Remember to but new gaskets for any covers you remove to do this work
Fuel problem
You have carburetor issues my friend, take those things apart and clean them. Probably time to rebuild them if they have never been apart yet.
How do i repair a shifter return spring for a 97
the gear selector return spring is not an easy job had a go at changing mine on my gsxr had to remove the clutch plates and a few more bits had to come out before i could get to it so i left it the return spring is on the other side of the engine the right side and you need to remove the clutch casing theres a few more bits to remove but you should be able to see the spring when the clutch plate is out it is attached to the bar that runs through the engine from the gear selector to the clutch good luck with this also when i had an issue with mine and saw the work involved i decided to try and see if a new gear selector and foot pedal (a new unit ) on the left hand side as i hit something on this side and it worked fine like new might be worth a shot
My 1997 Suzuki 600 Katana came with a maintenance
Hi and welcome to fixya,
Jump start the bike on 3rd gear to pre-charge the battery. its better to assume it was discharged and let the bike do the charging. Make sure all connections are in place and jumps start the bike, run a few kilometers. This should charge the battery pretty good for an electric start.
Hope this helps
I am having oil blow bye on the third cylinder
the oil rings are worn on #3 cylinder.........If you pull the head for one I would change all cylinder rings to ballance the compression through the engine and to reduce further problems.........Hope this helps.
No lights come on and nothing happens when i press the starter
the yellow or yellow and white wires have come apart under tank simply remove tank follow the wires from right hand switch block should be a black connection block and yellow and yellow and white wires are the old type bullet connectors check for corrosion green deposits reconnect wires yellow to yellow and yellow/white to yellow/white id use some electrical tape to insulate further also helps to stop them working loose again when handle bars are turned switch on the ignition b4 putting tank back on press start button it will start trust me lol
Im leaking fuel
replace the fuel valve, the O rings are damaged from this new cleaner burning gas, had the same problem
Push the starter button and does not do nothing
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, try starting with the clutch lever pulled in and/or the side stand folded up.
Offhand, check:
- consistent IGN +12 on 1 wire going to the starter relay (solenoid);
- the other wire should go to ground when starter button is pressed.
Postback results of above tests.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
I let my bike sit for asbout 3 years and now it wont stay on
The pilot jets are still gummed up. This jet controls the idle port and usually gets overlooked. To clean it the jet must be removed along and the adjusting screw as well. The circuit must be cleared of gum. For each individual carb, when removing the jet and the adjuster, count the turns then remount that number of turns. Now turn the adjuster screw 1/4 turn counter clockwise.
