Engine Compression for Stock '08 KTM 250XC
Hey E..
176psi is fine... I have been a factory trained Yamaha for 43 years...I have seen engines run fine with 90psi..(not racing engines).. Compression is a good indicator of overall top condition of an engine. Compression Ratio is different than compression psi. Now that you have established your baseline.. you want to maintain it!!
....If you want the engine to last.. run at least a 28:1 OIL/FUEL ratio.. even a 24:1 or 20:1 is better *... settle on a ratio and RUN this ratio at ALL times... if you are fouling plugs.. get a PROFESSIONAL that KNOWS how to "jet" an engine.. you should be able to drop the main jet one size..and maybe raise the needle jet clip UP one groove..this will lean out the mixture to the correct FUEL/AIR ratio and you won't foul spark plugs and the engine will LAST a LOT longer.. >> ... *Remember..the two-cycle oil you mix with the gas ALSO lubricates the main crankshaft bearings and the rod bearings.. (replacing those are $$$$$!!)
.. If you have more questions, reply to me on here...

My timing chain slipped due
No, it wont run with bent valves. If you remove the cams, (This will close all valves) and put air pressure into the cylinder via the spark plug hole (100psi or so.) If you hear air out the exhaust or carburator, you have a bent valve.

Starts ok when cold stalls
Do not twist the throttle when re-starting a hot engine. That bike floods easily. The power valve in the carb squirts gas into the cylinder with every twist of the throttle. A fresh spark plug will also help.

Ktm 250 excf 09 bogging
Check the fuel filter in the tank, (above and connected to the fuel tap). It may well be blocked.
Hope that helps.

I have a 2006 ktm sxf250 and would like to convert
Remove the stuff you don't want to be broken > turn signals, tail light assembly, mirrors. Leave the carb alone. Change to a larger rear sprocket. Add 10 to 16 teeth to it. Now the engine has much more torque to pull up a hill. > please rate my answer >

Ktm250excf throttle lag
100% the issue is too much air. get your carb checked, reduce air intake.
open the air intake on the carb about 4 full turns then start the bike. if it does not want to start open the idle bring it up at least 5 turns. when it start at a very high rev, start closing the air intake slowly until you feel and hear you have hit the right spot. adjust your idle in the process.

Bout a bike 2 day
check your oil level maybe it is more than full if it is good, check your muffler if there is white smoke coming out. if there white smoke coming from your muffler you have a problem in your piston rings, need to be change. thanks...
