2004 kawasaki VN 750 Vulcan Questions & Answers
2004 vulcan 750 shuts off
Intermittent faults are difficult to locate and occasionally the cause is never found. Often the problem cures itself or somebody cures it by desperate and mindless fiddling but doesn't know how.
I tell my customers to persevere and eventually a pattern will emerge - the same corner, the same stretch of road, the same sort of weather, the same speed, the same gear, etc.. Once a pattern is recognised it increases the chances the problem can be repeated predictably or some serious detective work might provide further clues.
Fitting temporary telltale lights to monitor supplies and grounds around the circuit can be helpful.
I have had two cars where the intermittent fault was inside the ECU. Very difficult to prove and too expensive to replace without justification. On one car I was lucky and had a timing light connected when the fault happened. I watched the timing mark move and keep moving until it was almost out of sight and the engine stopped. It restarted immediately and ran normally until the next time.
Is synthetic oil recommended for
An engine is an engine, whether a car or a bike engine. Synthetic engine definitely is better for all engines. Better lubrication, longer life, longer time between oil changes thus more savings on servicing charges etc. Go ahead.
Speedometer cable came unpluged
The speedo's are 100% mechanical. If there is no cable conencted to your speedo, you
found your problem. The cables are prone to break right where they make the turn
to head up to the speedo from the wheel sender. A new cable is about $20 dollars and is easy to replace.
I hope this helps.

Can you describe the value of a baotian 110 cc
The value is probably $100.00. The bike is worthless if you can't get parts. When was the last time you saw a "Baotian" dealership in the USA? Whoever buys it will likely be highly dissatisfied when they find no one will ( or can ) service the bike.

Took gas lines off of
Hi.
I have just sent you a comment on a different thread. I see that you posted the same question on separate thread. I am also posting here as I do not know if you are following both thread. Better to keep the problem on a single thread. Below my previous comment:
Hi.
There
is no "diagram" showing the whole routing of fuel lines in the bike.
You need to use different diagrams in Fuel System section of the service
manual. Fuel system section starts at page 15 in service manual, but
what you really need starts at page 40. I have posted fuel service
manual at the end of comment.
There is one forum where users
discussed the routing. One user has colored the diagram from service
manual to indicate lines routing. Here the diagram:
Here the forum, I quote:
"The red and yellow are the fuel lines that go to the petcock. The green
one you left unmarked also goes to the petcock. The line with a question
mark is a vacuum line that connects to a part in front of the battery
along with the larger lines to the cylinders."
Here the service manual in PDF format.
Regards.
