1995 kawasaki VN 800 A Vulcan Questions & Answers
Where is my fuse box - CBR 600F 1998
the only fuse that controls the starter is mounted to the side of the starter solenoid under the seat. Trace the red cable from the battery and it will lead you directly to it. the fuse should be under a cover where the battery connects to the solenoid.
solenoid should look something like this
Speedometer not working
On a mechanical (cable driven) speedometer, the problem's the drive unit, the cable, or the speedo head itself.
You stated the cable is good, so let's eliminate that.
You can attach the inner and outer cable to the speedo head, chuck the bottom end of the inner cable in a drill motor, and spin it to see if the speedo head responds.
If not, new speedo needed.
It both the cable and speedo head are good, then it's the speedometer drive (I believe it's in the rear brake backing plate) is probably bad.
Remove it and inspect/replace.

When the road is bad
You have a loose electrical connection. Check the wiring to the coil(s) and check all of your grounds. If it only occurred on 1 cylinder, odds are it's not a loose ignition connector.
Gas will not flow freely enough from tank to carb,
Try loosening the gas cap to see if the tank is venting properly. Gas can't flow from the tank unless air can get in to replace it. If loosening the cap solves the problem then try to clear the vent in the cap or just get a new cap.

How do i remove the rear shock from a 1995
HI NOT THE EASYEST TASK ON THIS BIKE, 1ST YOU MUST SUPORT THE BIKE, ON THE LOWER YOU HAVE THE 3 BOLTS WHICH BOLT TOGETHER THE LINKAGE AND THE SHOCK, UNDO THESE BOLTS MARK POSITION OF FORWARD FACING BRACKETS AND MAKE SURE THESE BOLTS ARE FREE AND READY TO PULL OUT ONCE YOU HAVE THE TOP BOLT REMOVED, THATS THE EASY BIT, NOW THE TOP BOLT IS HIDEN INSIDE THE FRAME AND BODYWORK, ON THE R/HAND SIDE REMOVE ALL NESSASARY COVERS AND FIXINGS POSS EVEN BATTERY TO GAIN ACCES TO THE NUT , AGAIN THE LH SIDE IS ALSO QUITE HARD TO GET TO, SO A LITTLE PATIENCE AND AN EXTRA SET OF HANDS WILL COME IN HANDY AS YOU HAVE TO UNDO THE BOLT WHICH CAN BE TIGHT 1 PERSON HOLDING A SOCKET ON 1 SIDE AS THE OTHER UNDOES THE NUT, YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO REMOVE ALL THE BODY WORK JUST TRY AND SQUEZE THE SOCKET PAST THE BODYWORK, CAN BE TRICKY, GOOD LUCK
My 1995 Vulcan 88 has
This sounds like your starter motor has packed up, the clicking sound you hear is the celinoid kicking in, but the starter is not turning, try replacing the starter motor
I left gas in it
You can remove the air intake and spray down the inside of the carb with carb cleaner to attempt to clean the jets. You can also try removing the fuel feed line and spray some carb cleaner in there.
My bike will start but after a few miles dies and
sounds like the bike is running out fuel the pump is not holding pressure it may be a relay or a clog in the gas tank or a bad fuel line ck fuel filter for flow with a ck of those things or you will find it the carbs float needle may be stuck as well it will let it get fuel to fill the bowl but when you run the bike it wont let enough fuel for wide open running for a short time
