I have a 95 Kawasaki Vulcan 800. My chain loose in some spots and then it becomes tight with less then an inch of slack in it. How do I adjust this to make it right.

this indicates the sprocket teeth are worn and the pitch for the chain and the sprocket teeth are no longer compatible .or the chain is worn and stretched causing the same problem check the teeth of the sprocket and if they look like triangles then replace the sprockets they should look like small teeth that are fatter at the middle , ten slope off to the point

Fuses

The fuse box is located under the seat. After removing the seat, remove the battery. There are 2 black boxes tucked into slots. The one on the left should be the fuse box. Pop the lid off and the fuses are right there.

Where is my fuse box - CBR 600F 1998

the only fuse that controls the starter is mounted to the side of the starter solenoid under the seat. Trace the red cable from the battery and it will lead you directly to it. the fuse should be under a cover where the battery connects to the solenoid. 516de7a2-1b2f-4069-ae8d-fa308a16c1c8.jpgsolenoid should look something like this

Speedometer not working

On a mechanical (cable driven) speedometer, the problem's the drive unit, the cable, or the speedo head itself. You stated the cable is good, so let's eliminate that. You can attach the inner and outer cable to the speedo head, chuck the bottom end of the inner cable in a drill motor, and spin it to see if the speedo head responds. If not, new speedo needed. It both the cable and speedo head are good, then it's the speedometer drive (I believe it's in the rear brake backing plate) is probably bad. Remove it and inspect/replace.

My odometer stopped working on my 1995 Vulcan 800.

Real easy. Look down at the back of your instrument cluster (you said '95 so I'm giving directions for tank cluster) you'll see three bolts in a triangle. the one at the bottom holds the cluster to teh tank. Remove it, speedo cable simply unscrews from the back of the speedo. Note very very carefully how the cable is routed it is absolutely essential that you route it right or you won't have a happy result. The bottom end is simply 1 screw undo and pull it out. Both ends simply have a squared off hard steel shaft that slide in no problems with little gears, very simple BUT make very sure you route the new one exactly the same as the one you take out. If you need any more help let me know

When the road is bad

You have a loose electrical connection. Check the wiring to the coil(s) and check all of your grounds. If it only occurred on 1 cylinder, odds are it's not a loose ignition connector.

Gas will not flow freely enough from tank to carb,

Try loosening the gas cap to see if the tank is venting properly. Gas can't flow from the tank unless air can get in to replace it. If loosening the cap solves the problem then try to clear the vent in the cap or just get a new cap.
