Motorcyles starts and then dies and does not restart like lack of fuel
These bikes use a vacuum operated fuel petcock too allow the flow of fuel when the bike is running vs shut off. In other words, it takes a vacuum(bike running) to provide a vacuum. The diaphragm in the fuel petcock has undoubtedly gone bad or the vacuum hose has come off or developed a leak.Check the vacuum hose first connected to the back side of the fuel petcock and make sure it is connected/not leaking. The fuel petcock itself can be repaired with a replacement diaphragm kit available from your local Honda motorcycle shop. However, unless you are mechanically inclined I would probably let a motorcycle shop do the repair since it does involve gasoline.Good Luck with it!
Erratic speedo vtx1300c
its digital--in cars u take the unit out and send it to a specialist to havit rebuilt-the instrument cluster is complex like a computer--ask a bike shop but first chec for any wire harness flaws
Slight pull to the left, notice more wear on left
Because it is a front tire, and a single tire at that, there is only two things that can cause that a bad faulty tire (inside wire spreading ) or break hanging up. Have first tire checked, but problem is once tire starts wearing on one side it will continue until, replaced. So to not have it happen again and ruen new tire have breaks front and back checked. Thanks mike
Backfires when choke is on, but almost dies without it when idling
I would check the jetting to be safe but it could also be dirt in the carb. The main jet has very little to do with lower engine speeds and especially idle. That is controlled more by the pilot jet and circuit. Your best clue is how it responds when you add more choke. If it gets worse then there is a rich condition but if it gets better then you have a lean condition. From what you have described it sounds like a lean condition.

Yes the air fuel mixture screw should be open at least 3 full turns
Especially if you use the big jet and lowered the needle clip position to the fouth from the top groove as instructed with the clip
i've installed several jet kits, and usually its 2 or 2 1/2 or 3 turns out on the air/fuel mixture screw.
Your not missing anything.

Full battery charge, all fuses good...turn
Check the main fuse.It is a flat fuse (30a) and plugs into the top of the starter solenoid. There should be a spare fuse on the rubber solenoid mount. Remove the fuse out. Then wait for 5 minutes and then reinsert the fuse back. Its on the start relay near battery on red cable, two screws hold it in.The fuse box should be located under the seat by the battery. The fuse IS required in order to start it, because the current that runs to the starter button and then to the solenoid coil DOES run through the fuse. So if the fuse is dead, your starter will be dead. ------------So check the fuse if its bad, blown, shorted then replace the fuse. But if the fuse is fine then remove it for 5 minutes then reinsert it.----------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
Front tire wearing on left side
First, did u by the bike new? sometimes uneven tire wear is a sign that the frame or frontend might be tweeked, secondly, check the fork tubes sliders for uneven wear as well. also check the front and rear tire alignment with a lazer style pointer, they should be dirrectly inline with eachother. make sure u factor in tire width to ur measurements. Sounds like the bike may have been dropped at one time. May have a bent upper or lower triple clamp, maybe even a bent fork leg. hope this points u in the right dirrection
What type of collant can
Any brand name motorcycle antifreeze should work for you. If genuine Honda coolant is not available to you, you can use GM Dexcool or any NON SILICA style automotive anti freeze. The silica (scrubbing) particles in regular automotive anti freeze will damage the water pump seal ceramic washer causing your pump to start leaking. 50/50 mix should work fine. If you have to dilute the antifreeze to achieve a 50/50 mix, use only distilled water to limit corrosion or crust build up in your radiator.
2005 VTX 1300. Starts good
Have you checked the battery is charging , when the battery is cold it will regain some of the lost charge from when it was running, it is also a fact that a battery is more likely to fail when it is hot, rather than when its cold, try a battery pack on the bike when it fails to start also it would be a good idea to drop test the battery, may be something mechanical, but you need to check out the battery even a new battery can fail whet type is it?, paul
I have a 2004 vtx
Hi
It's going to be just a couple of wires that are off on the connectors for the turn signals. If they are on all the time something's in the wrong position. As for the speedometer check under the dash and make sure you got the connectors pushed in all the way.
Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.Thank you for contacting fixya.com
I took out old battery,now
RED is positive and BLACK is negative if both cables are black then trace wires the gound or negative will go back to frame of bike somwhere. And the red or positive will go to starter soliniond and be inlined fused.
I took out old battery
Okay...the battery posts themselves should be identified with a + and -
As for the cables....often the positive cable is red, and has a rubber cap on the cable that covers the positve cable/battery post connection once bolted up. The negative cable does not have this cap. You should note that the positive cable runs from the battery to the main fuse of the bike, which usually is near the battery.
I had my oil changed and when I got my vtx 1300R
From what Your describing,,,While it was at the Service Shop they may have put some air in you front suspension if you have air assisted shocks,,,Your Motorcycle isn't supposed to sit straight up,,a mild lean is no big deal.
