1999 VT 1100-How do I remove the decal or tank
For stick on decals try using hot soapy water and a lot of care .don't pull too hard as you may take of paint with the decal once you have poured the hot soapy water over the decal ,try and get the edge of the decal to come away from the tank .start with your thumb nail Never use any abrasive tool like a knife or screwdriver as this will scratch the paintwork.and once you have a finger grip pour hot water on the decal directly where its attached to the tank .The hot water softens the glue on the decal .pull very gently .it does help tp have another person pouring the water on the decal ,this will leave your hands free to remove the decal.Once decal has been removed ,try using a small amount of petrol on a rag or a good colour restorer polish .to remove the glue left on the tank .Depending how long the decal has been on the tank ,you may well find that the sun has bleached the tank from it original colour .and the paint under the decal will be much fresher looking and of a deeper colour.
1995 honda shadow ace, overall
could be several things
1-- coolant radiator is partially blocked or the thermostat is not fully opening reducing the flow of coolant through the radiator
2--- tuning is too lean at full load which causes overheat conditions for the engine
3--- timing a bit retarded for the rpms
i t is all connected to the extra load from the head winds requiring extra throttle that you would not normally use in normal conditions
another place to check is the fairing in use as the extra wind speed from the bike and the head wind may be causing a turbulence around the radiator and so preventing full air flow to the radiator
My 1999 Honda Shadow 1100 won't start. It just clicks. Lights, horn work and battery is new. any help?
Yes, the starter is bad (brushes 2 or 4 are worn), but you can fix it, unscrew 2 starter bolts (on the right side of starter) push the starter to the right using flat screwdriver, take it out and open it gently, you will see warn brushes (they slide on rotors surface, check that too, it should be flat and smooth. Buy brushes on ebay. Here is some help from youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EHQJDhxZc0

1999 honda vt1100 running lean
First try to sync the carbs (link 1), if you can not balance them, then you have to rejet the slow and main jet. Do not drive the bike without sync the carbs, overheating can destroy cylinder, rings, cam chain etc.

What is the float height for 1987 vt 1100 honda
float heights are not usually needed to be adjusted, the float valve will have a rubber tip, so it wont wear and change the float height. if flooding is a problem, new float valves may be necessary, but more likely the fuel tap needs a kit
Putting a tuneup in a 1997 honda shadow 1100
You need to check your owners manual for specifics for your 15 year old motorcycle. Look behind the side cover in the special compartment for your manual. You might want to check the generic service manual for your Honda product you will find here:

Starter will not engage
Either your battery is bad or a connection has worked loose. Check battery cables (both ends) and if everything is tight replace the battery.
1999 Honda Shadow 1100 runs
Please check the carb and clean the jet and various nozzles as it seems that there is not enough fuel reaching the engine. May be the fuel filter is clogged. If so, then it needs replacement. Do that.

If you are sitting on your bike , and you reach your left hand down on the engine's lower case. you
will see a round crome or alum cover. It is right behind that cover. If you would like a good picture

I blew the intake gasket on my 1999 Honda Shadow
Pull the two nuts off the carb and the intake and remove the carb. Now you have access to the intake gasket. Replace it and put the carb back on. Don't have to disconnect the carb usually. Just have to pull it off.
I have a '98 Honda
Check your battery with a load tester, make sure you don't have a bad cell. The charging system is showing stress, (the yellow wires are from the stator and will get hot and burn if the battery has a bad cell or the voltage regulator is no longer functioning properly).
All at once my honda
battery more than three years old? get a new one, and don't even mess around with trickle charging it has a bad cell and you can confirm this the next time it dies on you check voltage, if it reads 12.3v or less its definitely bad. if your positive that the battery is good showing a charge of 12.5v or more then its probably your voltage regulator going bad..you can check this by starting the bike and rev the bike to 4k and watch the voltage climb up to @14.5 v and then get regulated down to @ 13.0v..this is a properly running charging system.
