I have had my 2008 Nighthawk 250 up to 70mph with some left over. I just got it so I haven't really run it full throttle yet ( 75 miles on the OD ) I weight 300 lbs. I would guess 80 on a flat road. I felt comfy at 70 but this is my 5th bike. I bought this one for the gas mileage and 1 yr. warranty. I will try actual top speed on the Interstate in about 1000 miles. Hope this helps. I like the bike. Chris

API SJ/CF ACEA A2 SAE 15W40 mineral motorcycle oil is recommended.

Please ensure that you use MOTORCYCLE oil. It does matter. If your motorcycle has an oil bathed clutch then standard automobile oil will contaminate it and cause the clutch to slip. Once contaminated, the only way to fix it is to strip out the clutch and replace the friction plates!

On the gearshifter side of the bike, in front of the rear turn signal is a lock and loop thingy. That is for locking the helmet. But, if you turn the key as though you are going to lock the helmet, and push a lever next to it, the seat will unlock. I believe you move the lever towards the front of the bike. The key will stay in the lock when you are in this mode. Give the seat a pull on the passenger strap. The seat will pop off. Put back on by looking under the seat when reinstalling it. You'll put it back on by putting the drivers end of the seat first, then the passenger part.

T should be top dead centre TDC(when piston is exactly at top of stroke)
F should be fire(when the ignition triggers)
S not sure? but could be the mark the timing advances too when the bike is reved

This motorcycle is very reliable and troble free and the ingtion module seldom if ever fails. The kick stand switch will not let the motor run in gear with the stand down. The switch can fail or get unplugged or dirty, The buke will run if the bike is in neutral with the stand down but the neutral light has to work. If the battery is low or bad 10 volts ( it'll crank but it don't start) the lights might look Ok too. Unless you remove the plug wire from the plug and place it connected to a spark plug or spark tester and see it frie or not fire your not a good test. The plug could be foulded with gas the cylinder can have lost compression( overheating) lack of oil. The ingtion module should hav some dielcctric compuund in it to dis a pate heat. this is normal, the coil is more likly and does fail the the module. Modules fail from bad batteries and jump starting wrong to hooking the battery up backwards. The coil fails from overheating and high mileage. Freezing and cracking in cold storage and may work awhile afer broken. Your bike is old even though the mileage is low. Electrical connections fail as they rust and reconning them all is agood place to start. You dont have to know what the wiring connector does just unplug it and replugf it to get a new connection. The battery cable on the ground side is well known to fail and following the wire to all the places it bolts on and unbolting and replugging or bolting all of these and cleaning any rust found way repair the bike completely/ You say thats a lot of work . Most bikes that have sit for more than a year have this done just to get them to run and a new battery is key as are it's connections. Skipping staps to get to thend quickly it's the step you skipped that might leave you a long way from home or not let you go in the first place.
