1995 Harley Sportster won't turn over.
sounds like the battery has dropped a cell,it will still have power but not enough to turn the bike over properly, harley atarters use a lot of current to turn over so a slightly weak battery will cause all sorts of grief, hope this helps...cheers
How do you remove the rear wheel from a 2007
Haven't solved the problem yet but I think I'm just going to take it to the shop and have it done professionally dus to the sizes of sockets that I think I'll be needing and which I don"t have. Thanks anyway
Need to install battery for 2007 sportster
Place the large positive wire (red) on the battery then all other positive wires on top of the large wire. This way the main power wire has a direct contact to the battery post.
Please rate this solution. Thanks!
Engine wont start but is turning over i believe. gear shifter broken and jammed in first or second gear.
Hi Alex Iam not too sure but I think this model had a neutral switch fitted that stopped the bike from starting in gear , and displayed a light on the clocks when the bike was in neutral .
If as you say the bike is jammed in first this is probably the cause
the jamming sounds abit more serious ?.. you may have bent the selectors and this will mean a gearnox stripdown , it is even possible you have damaged the lay shaft if the bike was travelling when you came off this would also mean a box strip down .
I dont think there is an easy answer to this one Alex loks like you will have to take the engine apart to fix this one ( one thing did strike me I had an old BSA that I slid on the gear shaft and did the same thing stuck in first turned out I had bent the gear shaft removal of the pedal and gentle tapping freed the gears off and I was able to use the bike again ? it may help I cant be sure be careful not to damage the case or the splines I used a small lump hammer and a block of 4x 4 against the shaft .. I also put a wedge behind the shaft to stop damaging the rear of the box housing ) hope this helps Regards vortash
Need to change battery on o6 sportster 883 low
Remove battery cover on left side of the bike, remove the positive and negative cables and take out battery. It is that simple but dosen't feel like it because it is so tightly fitted. If you think its a bear to get out wait untill you try and put it back in.
How do I check the fluid level in a 2007 harley 883 custom
No ... The primary has its own fluid system. U check the level by removing the derby cover with the bike level and filling the primary with chain case fluid til it comes to the bottom edge of the diaphragm spring. U can see it with a flashlight
Harley Davidson XL 883 Sportster how to change the transmission oil
I am not familiar with this model and I don't want to insult your intelligence but are you sure that it has seperate oil for the gearbox from the engine? If it has then I assume you have checked for a sump plug and there isn't one. The absence of a plug would indicate that Harley Davidson probably don't think the oil needs to ever be changed. I have a GM car that has done 215,000 miles and I don't think the gearbox oil has ever been changed (No sump plug). However having said that your machine is a quality bike and you probably want to treat it to an oil change. It should have a level plug or a dipstick to check the level. Plug types require you to remove the plug and top up the oil until oil starts to leak out of the plug to get the right level. If you haven't got a sump / drain plug the only way you are going to drain the old oil is to use a vacuum pump and a hose in from either the filler hole or level plug hole. Vacuum pumps with a reservoir are a useful tool and can be found on eBay.
1998 Harley Davidson XL 883 Sportster not getting gas
Is this a recent issue? With the ethanol gas we are forced to use could be your problem. What year is it? When was the last time your carb was cleaned? The corn byproduct in the gas has been an ongoing issue. It will gunk up your jets and in some cases eat away the needle. First make sure you are getting fuel to the carb itself. The same problems it causes with the carb it can cause issues with the tank.
