2008 BMW K 1200 GT Questions & Answers
I have a 2002 K1200LT. It seems that the battery
It sounds like there is something draining your battery such as an alarm. I would start by charging the battery up and checking the bike starts ok. Then totally isolate the battery and wait a few days. Reconnect it, does the bike start? If no, then its a bad battery (just because its new doesnt mean its good).
If you have a multimeter you can use this to find what is causing the problem. This can be acheived by putting it in series with the battery. There will be some current drain, but no more than around 50mA. If you have a larger drain then start by removing one fuse at a time and see if the current drain reduces to an acceptable level. This should then help identify which circuit is giving you the problem.
New bike 2008 k1200 gt starting problem when hot
if the clutch burned out it must have been slipping causing lots of heat inside were the starter is, all this extra heat wont do the starter any good at all, if its still under warrantee get it back as its clearly not right,, not at all like bmw?
Oil issue
Was that with, or without, the filter change? It's possible that you are checking the spec for not having changed the filter. A fresh filter will require more oil.
My $.02 - If it's in the marks, it's good to go.
How does the bmw 2004 k 1200 gt cruse control work
To set the cruise control it is a two step process if it's not on yet. Step one is to turn it on by flicking the (usually) grey cruise button inward (towards the center of the handle bar, step two is to set the cruise control, this step has to be performed while riding above 25MPH, and it's to flick the now fully exposed tab either forward or backword. This should set the cruise control and the indicator on the dash should confirm it.
K1200gt head apparently needs shimms at huge cost accourding to the mechanic it has low compression but it runs beautiful,, no oil loss or tappet noise either, this was at the 100000 Kilometer service
Well, the shim adjustment must be done, the question is are you too late? I presume that you are talking about valve shims, which is how the valves are adjusted. Valves work their way into the head, over time, and this closes the clearance, when you hold the valve slightly open, the valve and seat get damaged. This is the time to fix the low compression cylinder, as it will only deteriorate more from this point. Likely a valve issue...And it appears that is what your mechanic is indication. NO MORE adjustment means that the valve has worked its way into the head too far. Valve job time. Sorry.
Noise from right side of
Hello and welcome to FixYa!
I suspect that it's the timing chain tensioner as well. It really makes noise when worn out. I strongly suggest that during the tensioner replacement, have the timing chain be replaced too. This will prevent future engine breakage.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
I have a 2004 K1200GT
Yes, there is a 12 V accy. socket on your bike which can be used to charge the battery while it is still in the bike or for powering 12 V gadgets. If memory serves the socket is located on the LHS of the bike.
GPS consume very little power, so you could wire it directly to the battery with a small (3-5A) fuse in the line. Battery is located directly under the seat.
I noticed that the brake
You are correct...you bleed the system from a valve similar to what you find on a brake system, located at the slave cylinder on the bellhousing. However, just like your brakes, the system is not supposed to loose fluid, therefore you need to find the leak and correct it or you will be right back where you started in a couple of hours or days. check master, fluid line and slave for leaks. Good luck with it.
