My 96 dr200 idles fine
ok sounds like a carb blockage, remove and clean carb also could be tight valve clearance check valve clearances
Hello I have a 1996 Suzuki DR-200 and recently put
G'day mate the 1st thing i would go for is float level then compresion if it does have the **** it wont take the fuel in , rules are if it has **** ( induction ) Squeeze (compression) Bang ( spark) and Blow (free exhaust) then it should go, if it was running to lean there is good chance it has a burnt exhaust valve which will greatly drop the compression/induction, also check the valve clearence. hope this helps
Electrical system acting up at high RPM
halogen headlight taillight/brake light turn signals odo/speedo and horn.
Here are the problems…
Above about 6000 RPM the ignition will intermittently cut out. It doesn’t do it all the time. The higher the RPM the more it tends to cut out. Reducing RPM brings the lights back to bright.
Above about 6000 RPM the lights start to dim intermittently. The higher the RPM the dimmer they get to where the lights almost go out. The engine runs fine if the RPM is reduced.
The tachometer records some very high RPMS when the system starts to act up. Max RPM recorded is 19999 which is totally unreasonable.
I am looking for some assistance in troubleshooting my electrical system and how to isolate the problem(s).,Start by disconnecting the cables from the generator coils and start up your engine. Problem still there?
Do this to find out if your problems stems from the power side or the ignition side. If bike now runs fine, I'd look at the voltage regulator.
Have you checked that all your connectors are ok? A grounding problem with a somewhat loose connector would be vibration sensitive, hence the problems at higher rpm. Is your stator plate securely fastened? Is your engine grounded to chassis? There might be a loose fastening in one of you engine mounts.

There is a very slim chance that anyone will know
OK just using logic, no specialist knowledge but...
If temperature fluctuates, then it sounds more like a thermostat/heat control problem. If it CAN get hot then doubtless there is gas available... It's probably something to do with the heat controller unit - can you get it checked? have you looked inside the unit to see if there is any obvious issues?

My bike will start and idle but dies when you give it gas
Kerry, Check for vacuum leaks, check the fuel line is not old and collapsing (they can look good on the outside and inner collapsed), if it ha a vented cap make sure it is not plugged. Were the floats set correctly or could be sticking. There still is a chance dirt has been re introduced into jets to. Good luck.

Kick start seized
IF YOUR KICKSTART HAS SEIZED AND IT WON'T TILT BACK IN THE PROBLEMS ON THE SHAFT (REMOVE THE DOMED ALAN CAP BOLT THEN REMOVE THE ACTUAL KICKSTART AND CLEAN UP THE SHAFT AND INSIDE DIA OF THE KICKSTART AND LUBE IT BEFORE REFITTING, MIND YOU DON'T LOSE THE SPRING AND BALL). IF ITS SEIZES WHEN YOU KICK THE KICKSTART THEN ITS THE KICKSTART GEAR OR BUSH IN THE SIDE COVER THATS THE PROBLEM. ITS EASY ENOUGH TO CHANGE IF YOU HAVE THE TOOLS FOR THE JOB. IF ITS A DIRT BIKE TRY TO PRESSURE WASH IT THEN SPRAY WITH WD-40 IT MIGHT HELP. GOOD LUCK IF YOU NEED HELP WITH STRIPPING IT DOWN JUST LET ME KNOW (ALSO LET ME KNOW IF ITS A LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE KICKSTART)
