You need to check the charge rate. To do this you will need an electrical multimeter. If you have one, set the meter to the DC selector that has a scale greater than 15v DC.
Start the bike & connect the multimeter to the battery.
The red probe of the multimeter to the battery posative.
The black probe of the multimeter to the battery negative.
With these in place give the bike a rev.
The value should be 13.5vDC to 14.2vDC.
If the value is less than this you have a charging system fault.
If it is within the range specified you have a shot battery or loose or dirty battery terminal. Check BOTH sides of each battery cable for tightness
or a bad connection.

P.S. If you did find that the value is low I can only recomend you take it to your bike shop as charging system fault finding is a specialest job. Also some auto-electricians can fault find motorcycle charging systems.

Try some of the Benelli owners websites as someone might have one or there could be one being sold for spares. Personally I would consider getting a one made as new. There are companies out there that can build exact copies if they have the old one as a template.

Clean, lube and check that all parts are moving.

Run son carb cleaner thru it. If that doesn't work you will need to remove and disassemble the carburator to clean it properly.
