2011 Harley Heritage Electrical Issues

Question moved to HD sub category. Sorry tale. It has to be a simple connector block issue. They tugged a wire putting the fairing on. Look for wires that you can see around the steering head, front of the tank and up under the headlight. Usually there are a lot of wires behind the headlight glass and reflector and they fit with bullet connectors which are easy to pull apart. 2011 harley davidson heritage softail classic, service manual

The factory Harley-Davidson manuals are the best of all available service manuals. However, in my years of spinning wrenches on Harleys, I've found parts manuals to be a valuable asset. The HD parts books show expanded views of each assembly. If you take anything off the bike then disassemble it there is no guesswork in the reassembly. This is an example of an expanded view(smooth bore CV carburetor). Notice each part is numbered and by studying the diagram it's a simple matter to reassemble the carb. 14860823-oocj1x2drphoyb5k2kyew3cf-2-0.jpg Obtaining the parts book/manual can be problematic. Some Harley-Davidson dealers don't/won't sell them. However, many dealers will sell a parts book with no problem One thing to keep in mind; parts books aren't sold every day, therefore , most will need to be ordered. Finally, much Harley-Davidson service work requires "special" tools available from Harley-Davidson or Kent Moore. Knock-off tools are around, however, in my experience, most aren't worth having. Good luck and happy motoring!

As Heritage Softails don't have radios, you should follow the amp manufacturer's directions or the radio manufacturer's directions.

How Do I remove the Tank Mounted Ignition Switch on my 2011 FLSTC?

IIRC, it's in the speedometer housing, right? There's one nut that holds it on from the rear, and I think it's tabbed in the front, or you will see how it hooks up when you lift it. Then it should be fairly simple to get at from behind. Let me know if I'm mixed on this, I can't recall exactly how the 2011 is, but it should be close to the older ones.

Tranny makes banging noise once in a while when giving it hell in first gear

Sounds like gears are not fully engaging- check linkages for positive motion. Don't do this many times as its going to break eventually.

Changed handle bars on my 1998 heritage and now the throttle isn't closing .

You need to adjust both throttle and return cables. They need to be the correct length and if you installed mini apes you likely also needed longer cables. Cables need to be adjusted so there is not binding and not rpm change when rotating handlebars fully each way with engine idling. If you do not know or cannot figure out how to adjust the cables etc make another post and ask.
