2000 Marauder. It turns over. Why doesn't it crank?
If it runs on starter fluid that means it's not a spark issue. This is most likely a fuel starvation problem. You need to start at the tank and work all the way through the fuel system all the way to the cylinder.
If your getting fuel at the filter go to the next part in the system and check for fuel from that point. When was the Carburettor last serviced? A dirty/worn jet or a dirty/worn float needle can cause issues.
Try this. Don't use starter fluid. Spin the engine over for 2 to 3 seconds. Turn the Ignition Off. Remove a spark plug and look at it. Your checking to see if it's wet with fuel. Giving it a sniff sometimes helps. Refit that plug and repeat this for the other cylinder. If they are wet the engine is getting fuel.
Check your air filter. You'll be surprised how much trouble a dirty one can cause. If these all check out OK check the fuel pump relay. If it's faulty it won't turn on the fuel pump when you try to start the bike.

Have a 97 Suzuki Intruder 1400 and it sounds like it's not getting gas. Where is the fuel filter and is could this be the problem
What EXACTLY is it doing to make you think it isn't getting fuel? This model does not have a separate fuel filter. The fuel tap on actual tank, (the petcock), has a gauze filter built into it inside the tank. These can sometimes clog up over time especially if it's had bad gas through it or it's been stood for a while.
When was the last time the Carbs were serviced? This could be as simple as a dirty fuel jet or a dirty/worn needle.
If your going to clean the gauze filter make absolutely sure the tank is empty BEFORE you remove any fuel lines or the petcock.
I found that an old, stiff bristle toothbrush works well to clean the gauze.

My 2003 Suzuki ltz400 will not fire. We switched the stator, no fire. Got a new coil, no fire. Changed the cdi box, and still yet no fire. What else could it be?
Can only be compression to low or no fuel being allowed to motor. why did you change all the electric items did it have no spark at plug ??? Anyhow safe to say ignition is fine as all is replaced but worth confirming you have spark at plug (turn motor over with plug out and see if sparks) before we assume its compression or fuel delivery issue.when you have plug out cover the plug hole with finger to seal it best you can and turn over motor couple of times if you can keep it sealed or nearly sealed then way low on compression and that would be the problem (it should force your finger off and you would have no chance to hold it if compression is adequate) if compression is good then you left will fuel issues.. I know sounds stupid but check all the silly stuff first before you dive right in to all the nuts an bolts. disconnect fuel line see fuel is flowing from tank, check breather hose on tank not kinked or blocked, if you know fuel in it is old throw away and stick new fuel in, if all this checks out good then open her up.you could also force feed it fuel couple of tea spoons of fuel in the spark plug hole put it back together to start it and see if you get a brief starter or try to start up out of her I know its another back yard test as my back yard compression test is but at least it isolates some areas to work on.. cheers matewww.motoxpartsonline.com

1986 Suzuki Intruder Vs 700 won't shift when running
More information please. What EXACTLY is it doing? Slack clutch lever? Stuck clutch lever? Crunching or grinding as you try to shift? Grabbing and stalling as it selects the gear?
Start at the clutch lever. Check it is pulling the cable then check at the transmission end that the cable is connected and moving with the lever. Next check the lever on the actual transmission. Does it seem too tight or too slack? These will give clues as to where the issue could be.
It's a 37 year old bike so is it the original Clutch? Even motorcycle clutches wear out.
