Many times have I seen a battery with a full charge drop to nearly nothing on a load test. If its carberated you need to rejet. (lean it out)
If its fuel injected you need a power comander and remap your fuel settings.

You should start bike and warm up before changing oil.Don't know how black new oil is but could just be from some residual oil that didn't drain if the bike is running good.10w40 is recommended.If this is a first and plugs are not fouling might want to start with a compression test.Make sure bike is standing up straight when checking oil have a friend sit on it to hold it straight while you look at the glass and know you put the right quanity in when changing.

replace the turn signal which should come with a new wire and replace clear down to the wire connection(should even be a clip connection). don't worry about re-soldering

If it runs on starter fluid that means it's not a spark issue. This is most likely a fuel starvation problem. You need to start at the tank and work all the way through the fuel system all the way to the cylinder.
