Does pin placement in 4 pin plug 3 wire stator matter?

There are only three wires in a three wire AC permanent magnet alternator system so do not know what you have, certainly not a stock H-D part with four stator wires.

Does pin placement in 4 pin plug 3 wire stator matter for a 05 HD softail deluxe?

You should have a three pin plug for a three wire stator. What in fact do you have??? AND no, the pin placement does not matter in a three wire AC alternator system but the wires come assembled to pins in a plug so I do not know how you would have them changed anyway OR have four wires.

Harley fob 05 fat boy

2005 Softail ARMING/DISARMING SECURITY SYSTEM (TSSM) 3.7 GENERAL The security system can be armed automatically by the TSSM when the bike is shut down or manually by the use of the fob and it can be turned off automatically by having the fob within range when the ignition is turned on or by entering the PIN or personal code. The security system lamp in the speedometer head confirms the status of the system as armed or disarmed. The range within which the fob will work is dependent on the environmental and geographic conditions so the fob should be held at about waist level and horizontal to the tssm and pointed at the front of the bike with the fob button held down until both of the turn signals flash twice which indicates that the TSSM has responded to the fob and the security system has been activated. To disarm the system the fob should also be held at about waist level and horizontal to the TSSM and pointed at the front of the bike and the fob button rapidly pressed two times within 1.5 seconds after which if the TSSM has responded and turned off the security system the signal lights will flash one time. The fob is synchronized to the particular TSSM and the fob button should not be pressed very often when it is away from the bike because this might cause it to become de-synchronized to the particular TSSM which would require that the fob button be pressed and held within range of the TSSM for 10 to 15 seconds or until it is re-synchronized and the signal lights flash two times in response. The personal code (PIN) consists of five numbers or digits each of which can be any number from 1 to 9 that are individually entered into the security system by using the left and right turn signal switches. This number can be used to disarm the security system without the fob. If an error is made while entering the PIN the TSSM will activate the alarm for 30 seconds after the fifth digit is entered and the security lamp will flash every second for ten minutes and there cannot be any further attempts to enter the code during this ten minute period. The way to enter a personal code is to set the RUN/OFF switch to OFF, turn the IGNITION key to ACC, hold both turn switches in until the security lamp blinks at a fast rate to confirm that the security system is ready for personal code entry, THEN enter the first PIN digit (number) by pressing the left turn switch button a number of times equal to the value of the first digit of the PIN, i.e. for 1 press once for 2 press twice etc., then press the right turn signal switch button 1 time to enter the first number, THEN press the left turn signal switch button the number of times that is equal to the second number of the PIN, followed by pressing the right turn signal switch button 1 time to enter the second number, then press the left signal light switch button the number of times equal to the third number of the PIN followed by pressing the right signal light switch button one time to enter the third number of the PIN, THEN press the button of the left turn signal light switch a number of times equal to the number of the fourth PIN number followed by pressing the right signal light switch button once to enter the fourth PIN number, THEN press the left signal light switch button the number of ties that is equal to the fifth number of the PIN followed by pressing the right turn signal switch button one time to enter this final number of the PIN at which point the security lamp in the speedometer head will stop flashing and the signal lights will flash once to confirm that the security system has been disarmed. If the security lamp light in the speedometer head does not flash the security system is not armed or the bike does not have a security system or the system if installed is in storage mode.If the security system light in the speedometer head flashes every second for ten minutes there has been a failed PIN entry attempt. If the security system light in the speedometer head flashes once every two seconds the security system is armed. If the security system light in the speedometer head flashes 3 times per second the system is in PIN entry mode. If the security system light stays on solidly with the ignition key OFF auto-arming is commencing and there will be a 30 second period before the system is armed. If the security system light in the speedometer head stays on solidly for more than 4 seconds with the ignition switch ON there is a current DTC(s) set. With a TSM if the four-way flashers flash 6 times shortly after the ignition switch is turned to ON you should check for DTC's that have been set. A TSSM diagnosis starts with observation of the security system light in the speedometer head at KEY ON which means that the run switch and the ignition switch are both ON without starting the engine. When the ignition key is turned ON, the security lamp will illuminate for approximately four seconds and then turn off. If the security lamp is not illuminated at Key ON or if it fails to turn OFF after the initial four second period, the speedometer may be defective and need to be replaced. If BUS Er is displayed on the odometer, it may take up to twenty seconds for the security lamp to illuminate. The security lamp will also light for eight seconds after the first four second bulb check period if any historic diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are present. After the initial 4 second bulb check period of lamp illumination the security lamp will stay on if current DTCs are set. If a historic DTC is present, the security lamp will continue to light for 50 ignition cycles or until the DTC has been manually cleared away. After the lamp turns off after being illuminated for the first four second period, one of three events may occur: 1.The lamp will remains off which indicates there are no current fault conditions or stored historic DTCs being detected by the TSSM. 2. The lamp stays off for four seconds and then comes back on for an eight-second period which indicates that a historic DTC is stored, but no current DTC exists. 3. If the lamp remains on beyond the eight-second period a current DTC exists.

By using the method of jumping the black and light green/red pins on the data link connector of my 2005 fxsti, the codes 23, 32 and 33 are indicated. What do they mean ?

These alleged codes mean nothing to me. Why would you do this instead of having the bike properly valid current and/or histrical display DTC's on the speedo.

2005 fxsti diagnostic codes ? I have (from flashing engine light) 23, 32 & 33. can anyone tell me what they mean before I declare war on google ?

Each code has multiple diagnosis. You'll need to figure which it is. The codes mean the following (each code has more than one diagnosis) 23 = Front injector open/low 23 = Front injector high 32 = Rear injector open/low 32 = Rear injector high 32 = Alarm output high 33 = System relay contacts open 33 = System relay coil high/shorted 33 = System relay coil open/low 33 = System relay contacts closed

Rear tail light stays on

Good news. Mine did the same thing. There should be a running light and a "brake" light all within the same bulb. Check the switches on the front brake lever and the rear brake lever. Both actuate the rear brake light. You can usually do a quick test by pushing the brake lever on the handlebar all the way out and see if the light goes out. This is what my problem was. If you poke around you will see a switch on both brake levers. Make sure they are pressed in when your not pulling (handle bar lever) and pushing (right foot brake lever). You will see a switch with a little rod on it, when you press the foot break/pull the hand brake, it will come all the way out. That is when the light comes on. Hope this helps.

Oil is transfering up to the pipe that goes to the

The pipe you are talking about is the crankcase vent pipe. EPA regulations required that the air vented from the crankcase be run through the carburetor and burned in the engine. If it's a lot of oil and your bike has been sitting for a while, this is common and is referred to as "oil sumping". The reason for this is that when the bike is left sitting for long periods of time, oil will seep past the check ball in the oil pump and build up in the engine case. This is because the oil tank is located higher on the frame than the engine. When the engine is started, the scavenge gears in the oil pump cannot pump the oil back into the tank fast enough and it is blown out of the crankcase vent. If it's just a small amount of oil that accumulates over time, this is also common. Although the pipe has baffles in it, some oil mist still gets into the air filter. Most riders get tired of replacing or cleaning the air filter and simply disconnect the hose down at the crankcase and replace it with a piece of hose run straight back under the engine with a filter on the end of it. Plug the hole in the backside of the air filter.

Good Luck
