Rear cylinder not firing

The first thing I would do is replace the spark plugs again. You can foul a plug and it will cause you more problems than you can ever imagine. I see you have done all the logical things that I would recommend but I did not see you have replaced the plugs after the 200 miles. You would be surprised at how many times a $2.00 part can cause fits beyond belief.

2003 Harley Sportster XL 1200 backfires through the carburetor @

Hi, James and the usual suspects are: 1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries. 2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary. 3. Faulty main circuit breaker and or connections. 4. Faulty ignition coil and or connections. 5. Faulty spark plug, oil or gas fouled, wrong heat range or service type, wrong gap, loose in the cylinder head, broken electrode or insulator. 6. Faulty spark plug cables, leaking or broken, internal damage check for spark leakage in the dark. 7. Faulty ignition module, switch, CKP, MAP, CMP, sensor and or any connector in the ignition circuit could have corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets 8. Burnt exhaust valve or air leak in the exhaust system. 9. Improper valve clearance (too tight). 10. Check for generated diagnostic codes. Mikuni carb and Interference with tank placement on 96 1200 custom after VOES valve relocated @

Hi, Anonymous the answer to this question is way above my pay grade for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem.

If the bike is losing ALL power, I'm talking about dash lights, headlight, tail light, ALL lights, it's probably something tripping the main breaker. The breaker should be located either under the seat or behind the trianglular panel on the right side of the bike. I'd look for a frayed wire near the starter or around the rear cylinder due to the head in that area.

Good Luck
