Harley security system doesn't respond to fob

If the security system on your Harley-Davidson motorcycle is not responding to the key fob, there could be a few potential causes for this issue:
  1. Weak Battery: Check the battery in your key fob. If the battery is weak or depleted, it may not transmit a strong enough signal to communicate with the security system. Replace the battery with a fresh one and try again.
  2. Fob Synchronization: In some cases, the key fob may become unsynchronized with the security system. To resynchronize the fob, you can try the following steps:
    • Turn the ignition switch to the ACC or IGN position.
    • Press and hold the security system disarm button on the left handlebar control until the turn signals flash three times.
    • Release the disarm button.
    • Press any button on the key fob within 10 seconds.
    • The turn signals should flash once to confirm synchronization.
  3. Fob Battery Contacts: Ensure that the battery contacts inside the key fob are clean and making good contact with the battery. If there is any corrosion or dirt on the contacts, gently clean them with a soft cloth or alcohol wipe.
  4. Fob Malfunction or Damage: If the key fob itself is damaged or malfunctioning, it may need to be replaced. Contact a Harley-Davidson dealership or authorized service center to obtain a new key fob and have it programmed to your motorcycle's security system.
  5. Security System Malfunction: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a malfunction with the security system itself. In this case, it is recommended to contact a Harley-Davidson dealership or authorized service center for further diagnosis and repair.
It's important to note that the exact steps or procedures may vary depending on the model and year of your Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Consult your motorcycle's owner's manual or contact a Harley-Davidson dealership for more accurate and detailed instructions tailored to your specific model.

Fuel gage not working on harley fat boy

The fuel gauge is really two parts. You have a guage and a sending unit. You must have voltage going to the unit as well. On most models, the wires that supply voltage to the gauge run upwards through a small tube in the tank for the bottom of the tank. There is a connector at the bottom of the tank in most cases.

Using a VOM (volt/ohm meter) unplug the connector beneath the tank and check for voltage with the ignition switch on. You should have approx. 12 volts. Once you've finished this test, turn the switch back to the off position.

Next, you will have to check the sending unit. Remove the gauge from it's rubber gasket that holds it in position on the tank. Carefully work the gauge up and out of the rubber sleeve because the wires are very short. Once you have the gauge out, you'll have to check the resistance of the sending unit with the tank nearly full and then again with the tank nearly empty. If the resistance of the sending unit changes, the problem is probably the gauge itself. If the resistance does not change, the problem is more than likely with the sending unit. Check the sending unit for a good ground as well.

The sending unit is held in the tank by five or six small screws. Remove these screws and lift the unit slightly. Do not attempt to remove the sending unit with the fuel tanks full and the bike on the side stand. Fuel will be all the way to the top of the tank and will spill out when you attempt to remove the sending unit. While lifting the unit, turn it working the float arm out of the tank. Be very careful not to bend the float arm. Once you have the unit out of the tank, you can check the unit's resistance again. When you remove the sending unit, always replace the gasket that goes beneath the unit.

Be very careful, you are working with gasoline and expolsive fumes. Do not smoke or have any open flames near.

2013 Harley Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy leaks fuel. But only when the tank is full. Once it gets to a certain point it stops. Any ideas??

Question edited for FULL 'year make model'. Question moved to the correct category from 'Fat Motorcycles'. Remove the tanks with fuel pipes. Push a bolt or plug into the open end of the pipes and clamp with a hose clip. Fill the tank and see where the fuel is coming from? The most likely reason is a vibration crack somewhere or a split breather. Other ideas here https://www.google.com/search?q=2013+Harley+Davidson+FLSTF+fuel+tank+leaking ..

Why Is My Harley Davidson EVO Backfiring on the Rear Cylinder?

Harley-Davidson EVO may be backfiring on the rear cylinder because it has a wasted spark system. If fuel and electrical is all good/correct it is often the case in these symptoms that motor cycle spark plugs that although looking good and firing outside of the engine are breaking down and will not fire under compression pressures on a power stroke but will fire unburned fuel on the unpressurized exhaust stroke when the plug again fires in a wasted spark ignition system and when so firing the result is a backfire, usually quite loud.

CEL light stays on 2008 Harley Davidson FLSTF Fat boy

Hi, Nicolas it should be noted that the reasons your check engine light or CEL stays on constantly or flashes and your bike will or will not start and may turnover or not, these conditions will vary from bike to bike depending on the year, make, and model and you should always refer to your owners/service manual for proper diagnostic procedures. It should also be noted that any type of prior work done to the bike or an abnormal event occurrence IE: adding accessories, electrical curiosity or adventures, laying the bike down or crashes, rainstorms or bike washings just before CEL light issues started can be significant hints or aids into tracking down the gremlin, also for 2003 and older models carry the appropriate jumper wire to access fault codes and reduce the risk of being stranded or towed also keep in mind that your CEL comes to life if anything, and I do mean anything isn't 100% with the ECM like parameter spikes. This means that you could be staring at a major repair, or your speedometer sensor is contaminated and needs to be cleaned. And the usual suspects are: 1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, check the terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary, you should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries. 2. Faulty charging system. 3. Faulty system sensor some models have up to 40 sensors 4. Faulty safety switches: run/off, ignition, clutch lever, neutral, side stand, tip over, fuel, and or their connections. 5. The engine got wet where it didn't like to get wet. 6. Faulty ignition circuit spark plugs, coils, cables, etc. 7. Broken wire or worn insulation exposing wire to a ground situation especially inside wire harness at tight bends around fairing brackets, under dash panels, under fuel tanks over cylinder heads etc. Many harnesses are open on the ends that will allow water to enter and accumulate at v-bends. Dielectric grease and contact cleaner are your best friends for wire/cable/harness connectors, look for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets. Run speedometer diagnostics and check for generated fault codes.
