Hi Arthur: You've gotta have spark at the plug and get gas into the cylinder so I'd be looking confirming spark, and then draining and cleaning the carb. How long since it's been running?

Try changing the gasoline. It will go bad if it sets for a while. I once bought a motorcycle for $75 because the guy couldn't get it to start. I changed the gas and it started right up.

Most bikes have a mercury switch that when dropped it shut bike down you have to bypass it or replace it

Take plug out put thumb or finger over plug hole and crank it over you should get compression if no compression it could be a hole in the piston. If you have compression then if your getting spark and fuel I would think it air starvation.

Hi Robert: Have you checked the spark at the plug gap by removing the plug, connecting the plug wire, holding the plug against the head, and spinning the motor over? (And avoiding giving yourself a shock) If there's spark at the plug and fuel in the jug, it's going to want to run. What were the circumstances that led to this condition? Some history may help us trouble shoot with you.

You got compression? Hauling a log would put extra load on engine, perhaps blew head gasket, holed piston, burnt valve...

for any gasoline engine to woek the injection of gas has got to coincide with the presence of a spark, check that they are bot there at the sparks

Is the starter lever on neutral?

Air, fuel, compression and spark. check those, figure out what you don't have. But 9 times out of ten the carb needs cleaned. And that does not mean blowing some carb cleaner in there and saying "well I cleaned the carb and it still wont work" like half the guys on here. to clean a carb you must disassemble it.

Hi David check the fuel supply from the tank. Turn off the tap then pull the pipe off the tap or carb then turn fuel on there should be a good steady flow if not there is a blockage. There is a filter in the tank you will need to remove the tank and then the fuel tap. Also check along the fuel line for blockage. And make sure the vent in the filler cap is ok. Regards Jim...

Definitely will help. Get a cleanable type for it most likely will clog up often.

With the ignition on, short across the starter solenoid and see if anything happens. If it tries to start (or fires up) then the problem lies with the feed to it so I would suggest re-instating a working push button and wires.

Floats are set to high in the carbs or your needle and seats in the carbs have dirt stuck in them and not closing.

1 = Check between carb and head for vacuum leaks 2 = Float height could be set to low 3 = Needle height low Give the carb a good clean with carb cleaner making sure all passages and jets are clear. Reset float height and make sure all flanges seal properly.

Carbs are probably clogged. Has the bike sat for a long time? ~$75 per carb retail.

if it doesit in cool part of day its not vlock. Inspect igntion components for age. Sounds like a part is gittn hot then coolin down. Seek a clymer shopmanual
