Was riding bike it sputtered out like it was out of gas now it has no spark but coils are good
Hi Michael:
Interesting. You're right on with the necessities of a running engine...... spark..... and gas.
Sputtering like it was out of gas...... Had you just fuelled up? Possible contaminated fuel?
Drain the carb into a glass jar and check the fuel.
No spark but coils are good..... How do you know the coils are good? Try pulling the plugs to see if they are fouled. Check to see if you have spark at the plugs.
It's too rainy to ride on vancouver Island today, at least for an old dude like me.
Would a broken wire in wire harness cause gas to blow mist out of it?
No. The electrical and fuel system are completely separate. Are you sure that the broken wire is electrical? Is it possible it is a fuel line or breather line that has split. Be careful as fuel (especially misted fuel) is highly flammable and can ignite with disastrous results.
Have week spark on my 1992 zx11
first off are your plugs gapped correctly? Also how long has it been since the valve lash has been set? Is this a battery powered ignition system or a CDI style? If it's battery then a good battery source is needed, also check every ground and every single switch between the hot side of battery to ignition coil, include your start button and also the engine kill switch(which should be open)
