Floats are set to high in the carbs or your needle and seats in the carbs have dirt stuck in them and not closing.

01vz800 marauder it started leaking oil all over while riding couldn't see through the oil window so I started loosening the bolts on the clutch cover and oil and gas started pouring out any ideas

Hi Felix seems like the float needles in the carberator's are gone and allowing fuel straight into the engine. Remove carbs and check them a clean up might do. If not replace the needle and seat. Regards Jim...

What to do to correct the problem of my bike will start run 1 to 2 min then quit I can give it gas it still does it wait 5 min it will do the same thing again.

Hi David check the fuel supply from the tank. Turn off the tap then pull the pipe off the tap or carb then turn fuel on there should be a good steady flow if not there is a blockage. There is a filter in the tank you will need to remove the tank and then the fuel tap. Also check along the fuel line for blockage. And make sure the vent in the filler cap is ok. Regards Jim...

Why bike is running way too rich burnes like black and sounds like **** why?

Inadequate spark, improper metering (carburetor), or stuck injector (fuel injection).

When I ease into gas, it dies/or stalls. if I hit the gas no problem.

1 = Check between carb and head for vacuum leaks 2 = Float height could be set to low 3 = Needle height low Give the carb a good clean with carb cleaner making sure all passages and jets are clear. Reset float height and make sure all flanges seal properly.

Appears engine cyl is filling up with fluid and hydrolocking-bike has been sitting for 4 years without running

Hi. Vern the float needles in the carbs need to be cleaned. Also take the plugs out and turn motor to drive out all the fluid. It will also need an oil change because the fuel will get past the rings and fill the sump. Good Luck.

My 88 katana wont start An run but it will for a few sec if i put gas right in the carb I looked it over and the carb seems to be fine

Assuming that the fuel spigots are open, check for crud in the tank which is clogging the fuel line by blowing some compressed air backwards through the spigots, and change the fuel filter.

Was riding bike it sputtered out like it was out of gas now it has no spark but coils are good

Hi Michael: Interesting. You're right on with the necessities of a running engine...... spark..... and gas. Sputtering like it was out of gas...... Had you just fuelled up? Possible contaminated fuel? Drain the carb into a glass jar and check the fuel. No spark but coils are good..... How do you know the coils are good? Try pulling the plugs to see if they are fouled. Check to see if you have spark at the plugs. It's too rainy to ride on vancouver Island today, at least for an old dude like me.

Would a broken wire in wire harness cause gas to blow mist out of it?

No. The electrical and fuel system are completely separate. Are you sure that the broken wire is electrical? Is it possible it is a fuel line or breather line that has split. Be careful as fuel (especially misted fuel) is highly flammable and can ignite with disastrous results.

Looses power when trying to move forward new spark plug shows good spark cleaned air filter right way. New premium gas oil tank filled. Starts and idles fine just will not run when trying to go.

Hi Paul: I'd be suspicious of a fuel restriction. May I suggest flushing the carb (there should be a drain screw on the bottom) and see if you can find a fuel filter that needs cleaning or replacing. It may be that a high speed jet in the carb is obstructed. if flushing it did not help, try removing it and use compressed air to gently blow through the orifices (fancy word for holes). Hope this helps.

Have week spark on my 1992 zx11

first off are your plugs gapped correctly? Also how long has it been since the valve lash has been set? Is this a battery powered ignition system or a CDI style? If it's battery then a good battery source is needed, also check every ground and every single switch between the hot side of battery to ignition coil, include your start button and also the engine kill switch(which should be open)
