I have a 1988 ford f150 stright 6 4speed the ****** grinds when u go into 1st and revers but 2nd,3rd,and 4th are fine the fluild is full and sometimes the ****** will get stuck in a forward gear after its parked and i have to pull the shifter and pop it back than its fine for awhile. also im haveing to put cluch all the way to the floor to shift and now the cluch catches when i berly let off the peadel any info would be helpful

If it grinds when trying to shift, it is the synchronizers. Rebuild. If it pops out of gear. there is a plastic part at the top of the transmission that wears out. It fits around the ball of the shifter. It is two pieces. You'll have to remove the floor plate and pull it up to access the bolts to remove the shifter and replace those plastic pieces.

time to put a new tranny in that jet most of the time it costs to much to repair it then replace it i have done may tranny rebuilds and replacements to me i would just tell you to replace it at least you will get a better warrentee and stuff

Your pressure plate must be weak and about to let go.

It is a 5 speed manual transmission? If it is noisey in all gears except for 4th, then the problem is countershaft bearings.

sounds like 3rd gear clutch is out (it might have blew out a lip seal or something)
pull the pan c if there is a lot of black on the bottom of pan (no 3rd = no 4th either) the 3rd gear clutches are engaged along with the 4th gear clutches to make overdrive
if the tcc cable is out of adjustment it mite shift at wot (wide open throttle) max rpm (5000-5500)
if it just 1,2, neutral its probly clutches

Your transmission has 3 shift rails...
1st - 2nd
3rd -4th
5th- Reverse

If your 1st and 2nd don't work , you have an internal transmission problem, such as a syncronizer, or similar fail... There is not much you can fix, without removeing the transmission.

it sounds like you have 2 bad gears, 2nd gear may be fine for an hour or for ten years, theres no telling on that. your reverse gear is probably shelled out. your best bet is to rebould your transmission or buy a new one, sorry

Check your shifting forks, they are probably worn out

Yes, it could very well be a bad transmission.
