Ijust had parts replaced because my 2003 ford focus ideled way to high and drove way to fast now my transmission jerks me when driving does that have anything to do with it

Transmission can suddenly 'grab' when it/you changes gear. An automatic transmission can be sluggish to change gear if the fluid is dirty and needs changing. A worn/slipping clutch on a manual transmission causes the engine to rev high before the car picks up speed.

From your description it sounds as though there's a misfire or rough running with the engine which causes the jerking, not the transmission unit.

There's many things that can cause the symptoms you describe - the MAF sensor .. fuel starvation .. O2 sensor ..

Get a good mobile mechanic to look at your car - or take it to a workshop. I don't think it's your transmission at fault.

I have a 1996 Honda Accord with 268k miles that sputters at the same timethe speedometer needle fluctuates wildly. But I do have a new Vehicle Speed Sensor. This typically only happens when the engin

I am no Honda expert, but a similar problem happened to my ex sister in-laws Ford Taurus. The speed odometer would jump around and it had trouble shifting (automatic transmission). After driving it I changed out the speed odometer sensor on the transmission and it's been fine ever since. I changed out the sensor because if the cars computer cannot tell how fast the car is traveling then fail safes in place go into effect and the computer will do it's best to keep the cars rpm's down based on the speed indicator and not let it shift or shift properly either. If it's getting false speeds then it will shut down the motor when the speed gets to high and allow it to run as the speeds fall (jumping speed odometer needle). It effects the transmission shift points also. It will either shift erratically or not shift out of say 2nd gear, so that the cars engine can't get damaged based on what signal the speed sensor is sending the computer.

Why did my speedometer stop working and within minutes my 02 Cadillac Sts stalled and would barely accelerate?

The speedometer and odometer gets a signal from the speed sensor in the side of the transmission where the speedo cable once was.
The problem could be the speed sensor, or something in the wiring, or in the instrument cluster. Or it could be that the transmission is failing internally.

Is the speed sensor on a 97 sunfire internal or external?

The speed sensor would be mounted on the side of the transmission where the speedo cable used to be.

Sonata 2003 V6 2.7 Had to disconect Battery to replace fuel pump, on connection, driving in auto car sudenly changes from 4th random to 2, 3 back to 4 and revs jump dramatically, this problem is...

This transmission has only seven sensors and only one that is possible to cause this problem and that will be the vehicle speed sensor, 1 fluid temp sensor will not cause what you describe. 2.Input speed sensor will not cause this it monitor slipage 3.output speed sensor this monitor TCC lock up. 4.Shift solenoid this control the shift.5.TCC this will not cause (transmission toque control) but it comes close to the possibility. VCC the transmission vehicle speed sensor if this sensor get contaminated or looses its internal magnet strength then it will not know the shift program and it will do exactly what is happening to the vehicle this the VCC because it has an internal magnet and it strenght degrade due to heat you can be sure this is the problem sensor. Why did this break down you only did the fuel pump and disconnect the battery, Here is a theory as the fuel pump was going out the fuel trims adaptive strategy increase in long trim (injector on time increases) when you replaced fuel pump and disconnected battery you reset the adaptive strategy and the vehicle need to relearn. All sensor are now at a relearn and apparently the VCC cannot contribute like all the rest. The location of the VCC is top of transcase near right axle it is a three wire sensor

What kind of auto trans fluid

The 2003 Sunfire has been updated from Dexron II or III to Dexron VI per a Technical Service Bulletin from GM.

Automatic Transmission, 4T40-E Initial Fill..........6.5 liters
Automatic Transmission, Total Fill 4 speed 4T40-E..........12.2 liters

Good luck and hope this helps, if you do use Synthetic transmission oil, make sure it's a Low Viscosity Synthetic Transmission oil. High viscosity transmission oil will cause the gear shifting to stick and will cause shifting issues.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

Odometer, speedo not working, transmission won't go past 2nd

Speed sensor maybe. Check the connector on the speed sensor and make sure it is plugged in good. if the connection is good then the speed sensor is probably bad

I have a 1988 ford F-150 1/2 ton 4-wheel drive truck. The speed odometer keeps jumping. I replaced the cable and sensor (piece that goes into the transmission). 5 speed 300 straight 6

its your speedometer condensation builds up on the steel spindel and rust starts to form if you can get to it use a littel anti-rust lube [ not WD_40 ] and this should stop the jumping.
