It needs refrigerant or freon ,most car has a pressure sensor switch to activate the ac solonoid magnet to run the compressor and cool the inside cabin of the car.manually check if it low on freon,by opening the pressure side line cap and suction side by pressing the valve make sure you wear gaggle eye protection see if freon will come out a lot with pressure ,if only air come out in there there is no freon or refrigerant.

It does not have one, and if it did it would not make it blow warm air, just less air. Have the freon charge checked in the AC system for proper pressures, would be a good place to start, & check to see if the AC compressor is kicking in. I hope this helps.

This evening my 2001 GMC Sonoma was in 4-wheel drive. As I was backing out of a parking spot, I heard a clunk and had no brakes. I continued to back up with no brakes and then finally felt my brakes coming...

I would not drive that truck 1 more foot until that brake situation is rectified! No the 4 wheel drive cannnot make the brakes go out, they are 2 seperate systems entirely and have aero to do with the other as far as operation. This is a very dangerous condition and needs to be fixed BEFORE you ever drive it again! Brakes go out , dual reservoir master cylinders have a less likelihood of total failure than the old single reservoir types, so you should of had 2 wheels diagonally enen if a brake system failure has occured! better fix this one and before you drive it anywhere!! You could die and or kill someone!

Problem in the shifter or transfer case. Bring it to a transmission repair shop. they do the diagnosis and repair in their sleep.

I have a 2000 gmc sonoma and while driving down

Probably the CV joint. When you put it in 4x4 that puts extra torque on it so it wont vibrate so much.

1998 gmc sonoma air conditioner - not cold

Check the magnetic clutch is engaged on front of a/c pump, have the motor running, a/c on and fan on high, if the centre hub is static the pump in not switched on, this can happen when the gas pressure gets low.

The heater still won't work after I changed the thermostat on my

Get a female garden hose adapter from the local hardware store. Disconnect the heater hose from behind the fan pulley and attach the hose connection. Disconnect the other heater hose behind the alternator, aim it towards the ground and flush water through the heater core. This worked on my truck.

No cool air when idling..

The refrigerant level may still be to low or the compressor is not working properly.
