handles may be in good condition but the lever on the latch itself may have came loose. your mostlikley looking at dismantelling the apolsery with the door closed to rectify it.
This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.
Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.
You need to remove the door trim to expose the inside mechanism that opens the door from the inside, look for a broken cable or a missing link to the inside handle, your problem will be there.
You will need to take the door panel loose from inside and see if the linkage that works the latch has come off and if so put it back on. Most cars have a few screws around the door handle and arm rest you have to take out and then they have clips around the bottom of the door that pop out to get the panel loose.
the mechanism at the door lock is not returning the park position that's why you can't open it try lubricating the lock, the return spring could be hanging up. worst case scenario you will have to remove the door panel and lubricate it from the inside. the lock is fine.
