My 97 Trans Am clutch pedal stays on the floor and must be returned by slipping my toe under the pedal and flipping it back up. The clutch is a Valeo style (all LT1 engines with manual trans used this type, it is a pull type release bearing insted of a push type) and I am running stock GM clutch hydraulics (replaced w/new back in 2006. Trans (t-56 6 speed) shifts fine when the clutch is depressed and engages strong when the pedal is all the way up, ie. no slippage. The clutch seems to have good spring tension but is hanging up somewhere durring the process of raising my foot. There is no interference under the instrument panel and the clutch resivour is full. The hydraulics seem to be in good woeking order.

Have you checked the pedal spring?
Most cars but not all have a pedal hanger spring, this keeps the pedal up and off the floor even if not connected to anything.
These springs do break and when they do the symptoms you report are the outcome.
If you get on the floor and look up at your pedal hangers, and with your free hand check the pedal operation/swing. If your vehicle has this spring you will see it as you look up, if the spring is broken it is a simple job to replace it.

Some vehicle have a spring like this:

While other vehicles have a spring like this:

Ford Ranger PX clutch pedal falls to the floor when towing then returns to normal after a couple of days when not towing.

One of two things is wrong with your truck. Either the hydraulic clutch has a worn component that needs to be replaced or the clutch is slipping and needs to be replaced. If this failure only occurs while towing. I suspect the clutch is slipping, heat from the pressure plate is heating the fluid inside the hydraulic clutch and causing it to drop to the floor. Some diagnostics is needed to confirm.

1996 Mazda MX6 Clutch pedal has no push back from floor but still shifts

I am not a mazda guy but it sounds like the pressure plate is bad. Have you check the clutch linkage to be sure something did not slip or break. If so I would be looking at the clutch pressure plate.

Hi, my clutch stays to the floor. does the master or the slave push pedal up?

the clutch pressure plate return springs pushes the fluid back up the line through the slave and then the master to return the pedal. Both the Slave and the Master should be replaced at once.

The clutch pedal sticks down when trying to engage

YOU DO NEED A NEW DISC AND MOST LIKELY A MASTER AND SLAVE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH CYLINDERS, THE STICKING MAY BE DUE TO OVER TRAVEL DUE TO THE WORN OUT DISK.

TRANSMISSON PROBLEMS

if its manual sounds like your clutch could be slipping does car smell of burt clutch?
check cluth adjustment
may need new clutch
do stall test with hand brake on, foot (heel-toe) on brake and accel pedal to about 2000rpm then let out clutch and car should stall if engine revs go down and engine still runs but you can rev causing slip and you will now smell what slipping burnt clutch is replace it.

if its auto check trans oil level and what does it look like red-good
darker red to black-bad often smells burnt also possibly new trans required.

Clutch slipping when it get hot

Check the adjustment of the clutch push rod. It is the rod that connects the clutch pedal to the clutch master cylinder.

Clutch

believe it or not, the floormat on my 2000 Sunfire will sometimes slip forward and hold the clutch pedal down against the floor. It truly feels like a mechanical problem, but simply pull the floormat away and the pedal pops right back up!
