A team of eleven sensors keep the multi-zone THERMOTRONIC system's microcomputer fed with up-to-the-minute readings: the seven outflow temperature pickups in the air outlets, the central temperature sensor in the control panel and the solar sensor are joined by a dew-point sensor whose air humidity readings are also used to automatically regulate climate control. Finally, the multi-zone THERMOTRONIC system in the new R-Class also comes equipped with a pollutant sensor which monitors levels of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides in the outside air. If the concentration of pollutants becomes too high, the air conditioning automatically switches over into air recirculation mode. In the system's fresh air mode, an activated charcoal filter works to absorb pollutants and reduce the intensity of any unpleasant odours penetrating the passenger compartment.--------- Dew Point Sensor:---- To remove the sensor out, you need to remove the cabin air filter section out. --------- click this link for more help:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/07/dew-point-sensor-on-mercedes.html --------- This will help.thanks.Helpmech.

There are two sensors; Climate Control Sun Sensor located on the dash or rearview mirror, and an Ambient Air Temperature Sensor located by the climate control panel. I believe the one you're looking for will be the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor.

it is a very delicate screen with 3 sensors across the very thin wire mesh ,so it is very fragile.

Look under the driver side of the lower inst panel for a small vent looking thing. Behind this is the "sniffer" for the cabin temp. This item is routinely omitted from being reinstalled properly. I'll bet that it is not attached to the lower panel
