My van alawys dry starts may be oil pump is bad

If the pump continued to run after shutting off the car you fuel pump relay was probably staying latched. I would replace the relay as well based on your info. Along with the pump the fuel filter should be replaced too and fuel pressure should be checked. Make sure your ground is good also.

if oil level is ok, your oil PRESSURE is dangerously low.
Either the wrong oil was used, or your oil pump is going bad.

Make sure you have oil in the van. Add oil if needed. The noise is caused by lack of oil pressure as is the light. If you have sufficient oil, then you have a bad oil pump or the bearings are worn completely out. If you want to save this engine don't drive it untill it's figured out and repaired.

most likly you have a bad fuel pump, is the fuel gague accurate? you can alawys try tapping on the tank while someone is cranking to see if it will start. can you here the pump cycle when you turn your key on if not possibly bad pump but check fuses and relay

First,how is the oil level in your van,
And when was the last time you changed the oil,And how many miles are on your motor,
You might want to change the oil and use an additive like "Lucas" oil treatment.
And have them put in 5-30wt oil,
This is no sign of a pump being bad or your oil light would be staying on.

Check to see if you can turn the engine by hand by wrenching at the balancer. Sounds seized to me.

If it smokes when you first start it indicates valve seals are bad and oil is seaping thru them into cyls. when it sets like over night. As far as lifters rattling could be as simple as low on oil or as bad as the oil pump going bad.

Either your oil pump is bad, the pick up is damaged or your screen is clogged.

drop the oil pan and take a look at the oil screen on the pick up tube or check the oil pressure reading.

So! Either the filter is REALLY plugged up or you have a bad oil pump.

I have the same problem, I replaced the fuel pump. Did NOT solve it. i was told that it is a computer problem. The computer is not sending electric to the fuel pump, by cranking it several times the oil pressure builds up and will over ride the computer and send power to the fuel pump. This is a common problem on these asrto vans.
