You probably have air in the lines, if you have a carb, spray some quick start into the carb and turn it over, if it starts and then dies when the starting fluid has run out, you probably need a fuel pump, since the running of the car should have blown out any air that was in the line, If your car is fuel injected, loosen the bolt cap at the end of the injector line that supplies the fuel,, and tap the key once,, ( don't start it,, ) just turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times, this should blow fuel out of that loose bolt head, if it does your getting fuel, if not, back to the fuel pump, also you can check this link, http://www.aa1car.com/library/us1296.htm

Ran out of gas, car wouldn't crank replaced fuel pump, fuel relay, and in line fuel filter and still won't crank on 2002 chevy avalanche

still won't crank ? how's your battery ? starter ? starter solonoid ? if your engine does'nt crank , its dead ! would'nt you check the battery first ? then move on with checking the starter circuit ? seems like your putting the cart before the horse ! first of all, when you run out of gas, you need to replace the FUEL FILTER, your engine just sucked the dirt, garbage, etc., out of the tank. there's plenty of sediment in the tank, don't know how it gets there, but, you'd be surprized ! talking threw experience !!! I operate heavy equipment, its a cardinal sin to run out of fuel !!! you say you replaced the inline filter, which one, up by the engine or the main filter, under vehicle along frame ? are we talking about the same animal, PLEASE CLARIFY !

2002 alero ran.shut off won't restart.Replaced fuel filter,now it gets gas,but still won't start.

For some reason aleros have this problem every once in awhile. It might be the security on the alero. What you would have to do is turn the key all the way to accel i believe right before you start it and let it sit for about 13 minutes. affter this the security will recognise itself and start your car

Ran out of gas, now car won't start 1998 Toyota Camry

It's quite possible that as you basically ran out of fuel some dirt may have passed through from the fuel tank into the fuel line and into the filter. There is alway dirt/debris in the tank. You may need to clean out the fuel pipes and replace the fuel filter. If you don't have a filter, the dirt may have blocked on of the carburettor jets, that will need to be stripped down, cleaned and replaced.

Car won;t start after fillig up the gas task

It might be your fuel pump, if you turn your key to the setting right before your car turns on and you hear nothing, it maybe your fuel pump, if you do hear a buzz then try replacing your fuel filter before it strains your fuel pump

2002 Ford Explorer ran out of gas put gas in and won't restart. replaced fuel pump and fuel filter still won't start. Cranks but won't start

Most Fords have a fuel reset button. When you ran out of gas you tripped the circuit. Most of the time the button will be on the passenger side by the kick panel. The exact location should be in your owners manual or your local library or auto parts store will have a copy of one for your specific vehicle.
