5th gear When I've been driving in 5th gear for awhile it will pop out of gear. I put it back in but it will just pop out. could this be a problem with the transmission mount.

Hello. Popping out of gear is a common problem when it comes to manualtransmissions. The most common reason a manual transmission would jump out of gear is due to low or contaminated fluid, worn synchronizers inside thetransmission, or improperly adjusted shift linkage.

Try the fluid first but most likely you synchronizers need to be replaced and this is a pretty good job you can't do it yourself and it could cost about 25 to $3,500 on the average 5th gear pop out

if it is grinding i would say it is the synchros

More than likely it's not the linkage. Sounds like the fourth to fifth synchronizer is very badly worn, which will cause the shifter to "pop out" of fifth gear.

You're 5th gear syncro has just gone out. It keeps your shift forks and slider gear from popping off. It also makes it possible to shift the gear in. It's going to take a rebuild of the transmission to fix this problem.

driving along in 5th gear but then after about 30 seconds it pops out of gear and i have to put it back into 4th coz it wont go back into 5th.

it sound to me that you have to much end float in the cluster gear have you put all the correct shims and set the tollarances correctly also have you reraced the gear box get back to me with more info Please Lindz

This Sounds Like The Brass Clutch Ring For 5th Gear Has Broken Thus Without it It will Not Have Pull in that Gear This A Problem that Calls For Removal and Rebuilding of Transmission.

Only 2 thing cause this, worn engagement dogs on the gear pack or worn shifter parts or both, how many miles?

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR CUTCH PLATE WHICH IS ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR PUTTING THE CAR IN THE PROPER GEAR, SORRY NO QUICK FIX.

if it only revs when you put it in 5th gear then it is not in fifth gear. it may look like it but it is not. try moving the gear selector from fourth into neutral releasing the clutch fully then applying the clutch and initiating fifth gear. if that does not work try placing it into one of the other gears first without releasing the clutch and then selecting fifth.
you should be fine driving in four gears as long as you dont travel on the audobahn or at speeds like your on the audobahn. Just watch your redline. try not to go past it. i think it is actually better for your car to drive at higher revolutions than lower as it cleans out your combustion chamber of carbon. on the other hand it is ******* your engine to drive in the red line constantly.
but 3000 rpm in 4th gear probably has you driving 130km/hr (82mph) which should be sufficient and your redline probably does not start until somewhere between 4-5k
