This is an easy one. Abs or no abs changing the pads is the same.
You have to unbolt the caliper, pull out the old pads and reseat the caliper piston ( I use a large C-Clamp and the old pad to push the piston back into place.)
You are probably going to want to get your rotors turned. i bring mine to NAPA.
Put in the new pads, bolt the Caliper back on and your good to go.

Maybe you have iron debris stuck to the magnetic ABS sensor. behind the hub. Remove the sensor from behind the hub and clean it or remove the whole hub. To remove the hub you need to remove the calliper and rotor, knok off the centre dust cap and undo the 30mm nut and then the hub will slide off and you will see the sensor. When re fitting the hub, toque the nut to 120NM then 30degs more ( that is from Volvo Vadas official instructions).
I've just replaced the hub last night on my 2001 V40.

Most times, warning lights, engine lights ect, can be reset by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or so, but you will also loose any saved radio stations, times, and anything else like that.

sorry to tell you this but it sounds like the wheel bearing was put in backwards on one or both sides. the front wheel bearings have a black speed ring built in and that is what your speed sensor reads off. - this is common as the front bearings will install either way- hope this helps

Did you turn the key on at any time when the wheelspeed sensor (this is what detects the rotation of the "ABS ring") was disconnected? You may have to interrogate the ABS controller with a diagnostic computer to read the diagnostic trouble codes and then clear them. Also, you may have to drive the car 10km per hour for a few moments after the codes are cleared to get the light to go out.
