I have a 92 chevy 2500 with a 454. it idles good and rpms rap good in neutral but as soon as put under power starts bucking and jumping. i have changed fuel filter , fuel pressure regulator , both injectors , spark plugs and wires , cap , rotor , and distributor itself. i dont know what else to check. someone please help me , i am losing my last nerve here.

My problem was solved when I repaired my 4 wd activation dash switch. The switch was contacting on 2WD & 4HI at the same time. The front differential activation is vacuum activated possibly creating a tug of war that didn't actually engage it but drained off vacuum from the engine? A theory at best but stumbbled across it because I knew the switch wasn't working properly I repaired it and low and behold rough idle disappeared and all is good for 3 weeks running.

THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD.

if your losing fuel pressure after the pump runs the drain back valve in the pump has failed.

and i doubt that you are seeing enough fuel pressure to run a vortec engine.

low fuel pressure equals a non running vortec

Have you changed the fuel pump yet?I had the same exact problem.I replaced my fuel pump with an AUTOZONE PIECE OF JUNK fuel pump.That pump lasted almost 2 days.The second day i had it the truck didnt want to start but it did and it ran like ****,and when i put it in gear it ran as long as I didnt touch that gas pedal.You could go get a fuel pressure test or just replace it,your call.You might want to check your filter too but im sure its the pump.Good luck

relace the throtle air idle valve.The temp switch will allso cause this problem.

IF YOU GOT CYLINDER MISFIRE.OR OPEN FUEL INJECTOR.THAT WILL CAUSE THE PCM TO ENRICHEN FUEL MIXTURE.TO ADJUST TO DEAD CYLINDER.WHICH ACT AS A LARGE VACUUM LEAK.THATS WHY YOUR EXHAUST TAIL PIPES HAS A RAW FUEL SMELL AND WHITE SMOKES.

Dies in neutral

Without more info it might be hard to figure this one out. I would start by replacing the Idle Air Solenoid. Also check to see if the EGR valve is open.

My rpms jump up and down when im driving, it would also turn my abs light on and the brake warning light when it did it. i also felt the car bucking when the rpms would jump. i was turning into a parking...

Sound like she's idling too low.You're going to have to adjust that.You might want to check the spark plugs and plug wires...sometimes the plug wires can slip off and it feels like you went down a few cylinders.If it feels like it's going to cut out on you put her in neutral,that will take the strain off of the motor and what not.You should go to Auto Zone and get them to hook up to the car's computer to see what's wrong.Auto ZONE does it for free.Or if you have a mechanic friend that have a diagnostic meter, he/she will hook it up to car's computer also and it will tell you what codes are coming up and the mechanic can tell you what they mean and how to correct them.GOOD LUCK!

Change trans fluid and filter. Sounds like filter is starting to clog up. Trans fluid & filter should be done every 30k. More often if you do alot of heavy towing

Auto Mits Legnum vr4 when put into drive or reverse engine shuts down. Is idling below normal. Neutral is just under the 1 but as soon as put into gear idle drops to zero.

Could be many things. Bad torqe convertor, bad idle air control valve, bad egr valve. So many things it could be. Id spend 60 bucks to get it diagnosed that way your not throwing needless parts at it. Hope this helps

Engine makes a rapping noise at idle and under throttle.

The rapping noise makes me think that it might be a broken belt or even the lifters. It could be even your fan. Check the blades to se if they are bent or broken.

2003 Chevy 2500 HD-Problems with it quitting while its idleing

This is going to sound crazy but i had the same problem with my 2003 silverado, changed the plugs, battery, and alternator with no sucess at all. Finally took my truck to a well respected auto repair shop locally in my area and they suggested i change the fuel filter under the truck. Crazy right? Why not, so i did and my truck ran perfect after i changed it. Shop tech said my truck was starving for fuel which in turn was not letting the alternator spin above the correct RPMs at all times which in turn caused the electrical computer system to not operate correctly. If you tried everything might as well try the fuel filter before you have to spend big bucks at the repair shop. Hope this helps.

Idles to fast

Sounds like a vaccum leak at the throttle body or the intake. check for loose lines hissing with the motor running. Had a brake booster line come loose on my 92 and it ran at about 3000 rpms.
