Fuel pump most likely the problem. check both relays EFI AND CIR OPN tested both by adding power to the pickup coil and with a meter accross the normally open contacts they all worked fine, I also connected the dignostics meter and found camshaft senor error. not sure what if it has anthing to do with the power getting to the fuel pump. There's a 5 pin connector at the pump, this is my where I have an issue. I need to know which of the five pins provide power to the fuel pump so I can check it. It is most likely the two pins and not the 3 other pins these could be the fuel sensor, I just don't know. I tried to find on line the pin connector for this Toyota Camry 1987 but can not find anthing. I'm helping someone that need this vehicle to get around, jsut trying to help. any suggestions??

If the car doesn't start then the camshaft error can be a probable cause. but to check power to the fuel pump just probe the wires with a test light one at a time. the one that powers the fuel pump will turn the light on for 2 seconds and then go out . the computer does this until it sees a cranking signal then turns the pump on to allow the car to run.

the PCM must want to engerze the FP relay and not scanning the PCM you will never know why

ign fuse. not blown and C/OPN relay
and EFI relay not dead
and EFI fuse to that not blown. why not check all fuses? 1st the scan the pcm.
locations?>, ouch 24 pages of relay location in the SM
page 15 bingo found it reading ThE SM to you.

Efi on Toyota 1987 pickup fuel pump doesn't work consistantly. Pickup will die out intermitantly.

If you are sure the fusel pump is losing pressure or stops working check the EFI relay in the fuse box under the hood, check to make sure the EFI fuse is not loose or cracked, locate the circuit opening relay it controls the fuel pump and try a new relay, if nothing else replace the fuel pump, another possibility is the air flow meter, there are contacts inside that turn the fuel pump on and off as the meter door opens and closes.

Fuel system wiring diagram

which engine? 2.5 or 4L ,,, always engine first...... ill post for 4liter.
the first test on all EFI, (varies rules) but here it is.
many cars only have power to the pump cranking and running (ONLY)
(crash and burn rules... dig it?)
so use the meter this time and crank.
fuses first check.

btw, alldata.com has that, login and look, like us.
see schem linked here. its real simple and is online. (goggle)

this EFI pump in 1993, is 100% controlled by the ECU. at all times
Fuse 1, blown kills pump dead.
software (firm) in the ECU controls this.
http://www.fixkick.com/look/odds-ends/jeep/93wrangler-EFI-4L.jpg

if cranking , pump is dead, check coil for 12v, on fuel pump relay
if not 12v across coil, cranking the ECU is bad.
or ECU detects spark loss, again, crash and burn logic in the ECU.

the ecu monitors spark at all times. if bad it cuts fuel
even if spark is GOOD. ! and spark feed back is bad.
that is pin 44 on ECU is dead......... for any reasons.....

I have a condition in a 1996 geo prizm 1.6L where the car starts but will not run more than 2 seconds. At that time, the fuel pump relay is open. The diagnosis is either a bad distributor or a bad ECM. I...

The Prism is actually a Corolla, so you can use info for either model. You should have a main or EFI relay that powers the computer and the fuel pump relay. The engine computer powers the pump relay if it sees oil pressure or RPM.
Have you checked the EFI relay and the pump relay for power, and will the engine run if you bypass either relay ?

My 1991 toyota 4runner keeps blowing the efi fuse and my engine floods gas. what could be the problem?

Check the EFI main relay, the circuit opening relay, and the fuel pump relay. Inside the fuel pump relay there is a switch controlled by a coil. During start, the fuel pump gets full power for a couple of seconds to build up pressure. Once pressure is good, the fuel pump relay is supposed to switch (via the coil) the fuel pump to reduced power. If the coil in the relay is bad, the reduced power setting is not available and the fuel pump will run at full power all the time. At this heavy current draw, it won't be long until the EFI fuse blows. This would also give more pressure than is necessary to the cold start fuel injector which runs on a timer. This extra pressure during the time that the cold start injector is operating may be the reason the engine is flooding with fuel.

94 toyota camery 4 cyl wont start Ichecked the fuel injectors there ok checked fuel pump works fine replace distributor cap and the ignitor but I dont get a spark at the sparkplugs.henrys

check all efi and ign fuses first...then check pickup coil and ignition coil in distributor w/ ohm meter...since you already replace the ignitor, then mostly likely it's the pickup coil or ignition coil...buy the whole

No power to the fuel pump. looking for a wiring diagram.

The 15a efi fuse pwoers the computer fuel system components including the pump. If you NEVER have pump power, I would check the FP terminal in the underhood diag connector...this is the FUEL PUMP POWER wire tap. If it never gets off zero at any key position (Run or crank) your problem is either wiring, the circuit opening/Fuel pump relay, or the efi main relay, or the fuse itself. If it has power in 1 position but not the other, suspect wiring, or possibly the airflow meter. fuel pump switch power is run thru the airflow meter, if its not hooked up, the fuel pump relay cannot be closed in the run position, or if its open internally or the contacts are bad.
