Re: My 1999 Chevy Tracker dies sometimes when it gets hot...
Chevys have an engine module in the distributor that acts that way when they heat up I had the same problem with my camaro look in to that before replacing Franco sensor
It is the Camshaft sensor, I have a 2003 tracker with the 2.0 liter engine. I replaced the cam sensor, and it did the same thing, died when hot, then wait 15-20 minutes and it would start again. There are no codes stored in memory, UNLESS you read codes when the problem is occurring, then it sets a Camshaft code, but clears itself when the engine starts. So anyhow, since it died after replacing the cam sensor, I figured it was the crank sensor, so of course I pulled the transmission and replaced the crank sensor (bad spot behind the flywheel) It still died. I checked and rechecked everything I could think of, wiring, grounds, PCM and terminals, bought another Cam sensor, and it is still running!!! When it got real bad, I could push down on the sensor and get the car to start.
