SOURCE: water pump

You should not have to do all that. Let me know if you dont get diagral(sometimes happens)

  1. Drain the cooling system.
CAUTION When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old. 0900c1528018cf80.jpgFig. 1: Water pump assembly-Z24i and KA24E engines 0900c1528018cf81.jpgFig. 2: View of the water pump assembly-VG30E engine
  1. Remove all drive belts.
  2. Unfasten the fan shroud securing bolts and remove the fan shroud assembly.
  3. Unfasten the water pump retaining bolts (note the different size bolts on the VG30i and VG30E engines), then remove the water pump and fan assembly, using care not to damage the radiator with the fan.
If the fan is equipped with a fluid coupling, do not tip the fan/pump assembly on its side, as the fluid will run out.
To install:
  1. Remove all traces of gasket and/or sealant from the pump-to-cover mounting surfaces. Install the water pump and tighten the M6-size mounting bolts to 3-7 ft. lbs. (4-10 Nm). Tighten the M8-size bolts to 7-12 ft. lbs. (10-16 Nm) on Z24i engines, or 12-15 ft. lbs. (16-21 Nm) on KA24E, VG30i and VG30E engines. Always use a new gasket between the pump body and its mounting.
The KA24E engine uses a liquid gasket. Carefully scrape any old gasket material from the mounting surfaces, then apply a 0.079-0.118 in. (2-3mm) continuous bead of liquid gasket around the entire mounting surface.
  1. Install the fan shroud assembly.
  2. Install the drive belt and adjust the tension.
  3. Refill and bleed the cooling system (refer to ), then start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

SOURCE: when to replace timing belt? what's the avg. cost?

Local Nissan dealer just quoted me $950 to replace timing belt and water pump.

Checked with a local garage and got a quote of $390.

Make sure you get quotes from more than one source!

SOURCE: I have Nissan sentra GX 2002 90000Miles ,change timing belt?

I own this car, and I can say confidently that it has a timing chain instead of a belt. I believe you do not need to change the chain at any point...... it is more a matter of maintenance and repair to worn guides and tensioners.

84 Nissan 300ZX Turbo- Timing belt went out

never ever let any NISSAN engine CAM belt fail
or bend the valves over in the heads, or worse.
gee the engine is listed and maker as the only cars made that all their engines are INTERFERENCE engines.
5 engines used that year world wide, here they all are.

2.0 L VG20ET V6 Turbo (200Z, 200ZG, 200ZS)
2.0 L RB20DET I6 Turbo (200ZR)
3.0 L VG30E V6 (300ZX)
3.0 L VG30ET V6 Turbo (300ZX Turbo)<<<< bingo i guess.
3.0 L VG30DE V6 (300ZR)

this is normal. for high performance engines
to run 2 cams and huge valves and super high CR compression ratio's and lost of extra power (say from old push rod engines)
the Pistons, chase the exh valves closed super close.
this gains huge power, this act. (cam timing did)
so are interference.
but no engine told or country, told.
so no exact answers are possible. lacking that, or USA VIN if is USA>
in some countries they de-tune and engine for marketing reasons.
or what ever. IDK.

what a shop does is not crank it more and bend it more.
we do a BY HAND cylinder leak down test. or just inspect the cam timing using just EYEBALLS.
the manual for the car SM says do not move crank with cams not timed. clear as day. ever read a SM service manual?
page 1 , on timing belt page states this../

All 1984-88 Nissan Z and ZX engines are equipped with timing belts. Since these engines are of an "interference type'' design, if the timing belt breaks, the valves may contact the piston heads and cause extensive engine damage. Therefore, regular timing belt inspection and replacement is very important.!!!! oops <ignored this?
60k to 100k miles they fail, use Gates belts to run 100k.
MILES. if not in USA covert that to KMeters>
better engines are chain drive cams and not mix/belt/chain.
some cams need cam locks to do it.

cam wheels are at 11am left and 1pm right
and crank is very odd this. engine

300-undefined-undefined-0.jpg belt tension is 22lbs (top center) RTM read the manual carefully

Hi, I have a 2008 Nissan x trail, just wondering if it has a timing belt or chain? Thanks.

most Nissans have timing chains they are very expensive to fix. Make sure you check oil regularly as the oil tensions chain. so low oil or no oil slackens it and that's when problem becomes expensive.

"2005 nissan x trail 2.5 its cut and stop while driving and never start again. and what may be the problem? please help"

Run basic tests, such as is there spark to the plugs? Is fuel pressure correct? (most parts stores have pressure tester in their loan-a-tool program) Has timing belt broken? Is compression normal. No spark can be cam/crank sensor failed, bad coil or ignition module, ect. No fuel pressure is usually the pump and the bad pump can also kill the relay. How many miles since timing belt was changed? Ever?

Nissan starting problems

Although I have never heard of a starter "swinging," I think you mean that it cranks the engine but the engine does not actually engage. Next step, check for adequate spark. If there is no spark, check your timing belt first (common problem as vehicles age). After that, check COIL PACK, and PLUG WIRES. Also, read out ODB codes from the engine to determine if there have been any sensor anomalies. Did you have a CHECK ENGINE light before the failure occurred?
