When I was driving my 1991 Saturn SL1 I was going up hill and I was stopped at a red light and all the sudden my car started overheating rapidly. Eventually before the light finally changed my car died. Now it won't start all it does is just turn over and it sounds like its about to start but never does. What can I do about this?!?! Please help!!!!

Have a scanner hooked up to your car and do a data stream to see if your knock sensor is still working. On a heavy load, if the ECM detects detenation in the engine, it will automatically want to ****** the timing to make it run better on a load.

dont drive the car , you will blow the head gasket. take the accessory belt off and check your pulleys one will be frozen, power-steering,waterpump,emission pump, idoler pulley,a/c .replace item thats frozen and all will be well
sounds like your alternator is not charging.I would have that checked first. Also check battery terminal bolts/ cables

Most probably water pump, pass side or radiator on drivers side.also check cooling fan operation.

is the car over heating to the point the over heat light comes on and/or gauge pegs out max heat ?
if so u probly need a new water pump.
or is the a/c just warm air ?

I have the same problem, I also had a couple of ASE mechanics say it's the fuel pump. I've replaced the fuel pump, the fuel injector, and a major tune-up, nothing happen it will not hold a start. Now, the mechanic says its he computer. How So. I've been going thru this since August 6th, I am so tired of guessing games, I need a real mechanic. My next solution is to take it to a Saturn dealer. If you have a solution to this problem or a mechanic that knows his stuff, feel me in, I'm in Atlanta.
