What is the proper method of removing the vacum pump for replacement.

the brake booster mounts to the firewall . #1 remove master cylinder from booster by removing the 2 mounting nuts slide off booster and try not to bend the hydraulic lines. Now place seat in the rear position for more room under dash remove retaining pin on pedal then follow that rod to the firewall and remove the 4 mounting nuts. booster will be loose enough to remove. make note on rod so when putting in the replacement unit that the rod goes in on the proper side of brake pedal

to check if the secondaries are opening up you can get a microvac which is a handheld vacume pump to see if they'll open with vacume.

the tank will have to be dropped to gain access to the pump as it sits in the top of the tank.support the tank,disconnect the fuel lines and vacume lines and any elctrical that you can get to.undo tank straps and lower tank disconnect the connector for the tank sending unit and any other vacume lines,remove tank from car and clean dirt from around the sending unit.remove lock ring that locks the unit to the tank and seals the unit.remove the sending unit from the tank.the pump is at the bottom of the unit,remove and replace the pump as it looks and reassemble and re-install in reverse order.don`t smoke around the car while doing the work.

Check that all vacum lines are secure and have no holes in them.
Next try bleeding front brakes first then back breaks.

This sounds like a vacum or still a master cyl problem.

Hello, Check other Vacuum lines for leaks. If you have a 4x4, they can have Vacuum operated hubs and a leak anywhere will draw down the Vacuum. I found most pumps running at about 21psi. Check for a Vacuum Reservoir. The older models used one looking like a coffee can and they would rust on the bottom and leak.

If you take off a vacuum line and use a hand vacuum pump, you should easily find a leak on one of the remote lines. Another test idea is to remove the Vacuum pump lines, put in soapy water, and pressurize with about 3 PSI. Any vacuum leaks will blow bubbles and soapy fluid. Its your choice on what to do. I would reserve the soapy water for a line I find to leak with a hand Vacuum pump.

Many of the people wih your problem replaced the vacuum pump and were good to go. But if you can measure the vacuum and find the leak, you may save money on a part you do not need.

Best way to accomplish this task is to leave the back two bed bolts on and just loose. then just hoist up the front of the bed and prop it up. I have done numerous fuel pump changes this way.

To check the vacum pump.all you have to do is remove the pipe from the servo,and with the engine running that pipe should be sucking.place finger over the pipe and check.If its not sucking then check the pipe for cracks.If the pipe is ok then replace the pump

you may want to check fuel pressure possibly fuel pump try banging on the gas tank with a mallet while someone tries to start the car if it is a fuel pump you may be able to get it started but pump will still need to be replaced

Not a lot to go on! This truck is a diesel?????? If so check that your fanbelts are in good shape and adjusted propperly. That should fix it!
