Check the trunk fuse first; if it's bad replace it if it's good put it back where it was and, then:
remove the trunk switch wires (two of them) touch them together, metal to metal (don't worry they won't shock you) if the trunk opens replace that trunk switch; if not replace the trunk lock switch in the trunk

Trunk won t open on 2004 mercedes benz s500

There could be several reasons why the trunk of your 2004 Mercedes-Benz S500 will not open. Here are a few things you can try:
  1. Check the latch: Make sure the latch is not stuck or damaged. You can try lubricating the latch with penetrating oil or WD-40, or gently prying it open with a flat tool like a screwdriver.
  2. Check the trunk release button: If the trunk release button is not working, it may be due to a problem with the electrical system or a faulty trunk release switch. You can try replacing the fuse for the trunk release or checking the switch for any visible damage.
  3. Check the key: If you are using a key to unlock the trunk, make sure the key is not damaged or worn out. You may need to have the key replaced if it is no longer functioning properly.
  4. Check the trunk lock: If the trunk lock is stuck or damaged, it may be preventing the trunk from opening. You can try lubricating the lock with penetrating oil or WD-40, or have a locksmith inspect and repair the lock.
If you have tried these steps and the trunk is still not opening, it is possible that there is a problem with the trunk mechanism itself. In this case, it is recommended to have the car inspected by a mechanic. They will be able to diagnose the problem and recommend the appropriate repairs.

The trunk open indicator shows trunk open, but it's closed.

There is a switch in the trunk, that will close when the trunk is closed. This switch probably has become loose and out of adjustment, failing to work when trunk is closed. Find and readjust the trunk open\closed sensor.

Trunk release is in the glove box. Will no longer open trunk

The two wires to that switch can be jumped to see if the release will work. If it does you need a new switch release button. Most cars in a wrecking yard, Buick or Cadillac are the same switch. It is doubtful to get a new replacement one any longer
If the the technique in jumping the wires do not work the solenoid inside the trunk is at fault instead. Of course a used part will have to be found for this

I simply opened the bonnet. Connected the battery charge positive to the + feed on the back of the alternator, connected the negative to the body. Turned it on, immediately the interior light comes on. Turn on the ignition press the cabin boot switch and it opens the boot. Charge battery as normal. Easy Peezy

My trunk switch from inside wont open trunk

Yes, it has a fuse but I do not have a diagram unfortunately. Or it could be your indicator switch on the inside driver's side of the trunk. The remote will not work if the trunk is already open OR if the switch is bad/not contacting the stopper (at the base of the trunk) and falsley telling the PCM that the trunk is ajar. But if this were the problem, your should be getting a warning that your "trunk is ajar" from the onboard warning display on the guage cluster. The switch is cheesy...had to replace mine.
