The service stability light as well as the abs light is all conected to the wheel sensor. To fix it is simple if you kn,w how to do a brake job,it is all conected to the hub assembly. I replaced both front wheel sensors due to that problem. you can by the hub assembly for around 100.00 dollars at auto zone. the wire that connects to the wheel always breaks and these codes come up.
I have the same thing with mine, i also have an ssei 2000. the stability system light is for your auto level control sensor mounted on the left rear wheel house and is $220.10 throught gm but you can find them in the junkyard if you look in the left rear wheel house for between $10 - $50. also it comes on for you to replace the optical sensor in the steering colum that tells the computerhow hard or fast that you have turned the wheel to avoid a situation or during normal driving for the variable effort steering system that part is about $90 dollars through gm and would recomend the dealership install the optical sensor have not done mine yet so i can not tell you about how much the bill would be but will keep you posted
The Traction Control & Stability is a part of the anti lock brake system When these lights come on there has been a failure code set in the computer for a circuit failure.
This can be a sensor problem sometimes or a calibration change for the computer. You should have your local GM dealer check these systems for failures. These 2 systems work together through the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module).
Hope this helps.

stability system
The "service stability system" light as well as the ABS and Brake lights have gone on. Is this a major repair? SHould the car serviced by a dealer? this is on a 2000 bonneville ssei.
Yes, mine comes on as well and I have also had the cruise control kick off automatically. My check tire pressure warning comes up steady, yet the tire shop has checked them twice with their only solution being a sensor as well.
I have a 2000 Bonneville SSEi which has the stability system problem also. No other problems have occured and the car drives fine. I took it to a dealer and hooked it to a machine that read out the (ECBM) electronic brake control module is not responding. It's a dealer item only and that part cost $736.18 plus tax and labor. Looking for another answer than that. Anybody ever heard of this?
I went to auto zone and got the hub assembly for the front wheel. After removing the tire, I unplugged the old assembly and plugged in the new one. The service stability system light remained on. Then tried it on the other front side and still said service stablity system. Unhooked battery after each try to reset code, but still came on. I was able to get full refund from auto zone. They then plugged in a ABS readout gadgit and got the following codes:
c1248 - ecbm turned on red brk lamp
c1233 - rf wheel speed sensor ckt open or short
c1214 - sys relay contacts or coil open
Anyone got any solutions?
