I have a 2002 qx4 and the alarm goes off for no apparent reason. If you shut it off it will just go off again. All doors and windows are closed and locked. It just alarms for the heck of it. Bought a new battery. Still alarms. What is the problem

Gregg, several things can cause a car alarm to go off. One of the most common reasons is the alarm switches which are mounted to doors. under hood, trunk. When these switches go bad OR get corroded from water, can cause the alarm to go off with just the blowing of the wind moving the car. Check this by pushing on each door and see if the alarm goes off. Also push downward on the hood and trunk. Even door adjustments can cause the issue, because if a door is not tight it can move and set the alarm off. One other thing is sensitivity, the alarm box can be going bad and the slightest movement of the vehicle can set it off. Sounds like the door latch is not closing all the way, Try spraying some WD40 into the latch in the door where it hits the striker post. Hold the door handle up and bump the door shut and open while holding the handle up on the out side several times, This should loosen the latch up and the door should close and latch. The more you spray and work the door the better it should get. If not the latching mechanisim may need replaced. I hope I have help you sovle the alarm problem.

Sorry this can not be shut off it is part of a complete anti theft device that even monitors the ignition key you can unhook that horn which goes off or siren alarm which i would do. and if you have the remote for it change your battery in it as well.

Check the seat belts there is wires hook up to them that could be broken or corroded and the door switches could be broken. The speeding up of the chimes would be part of the safety fetcher.

some will reset by locking and unlocking the door with the key.....or .need to replace the battery in the car it is dead and when u try to reset it trips again because it is dead

open all doors and press the keyfob to lock all doors then again to unlock them close doors and try again might work does for fords bmws renaults and vauxhalls the central locking may just bounce but should still activate all door locks when u close doors

you may have a broke wire in the door harness

usually on post where door closes, or in jamb by hinge area. Open door & try pushing any button/pin like object or may be a lever style too, with thumb or finger.When interior light goes out, you found it

each door latch has a sensor one of those could be bad ( the ajar switch) Needs to be hooked up to a scanner at a dealership or a local mechanic may have a scanner that could help
