I have a 2002 acura rsx and can locate the airbag module and the air bag company is refusing to send the airbags till i give them this number do i have to pull out the whole dash just to get this info

open means the circuit. meaning now power to the airbag. its best not to play around with airbags as they can go off. if you have never removed or been shown how to remove them would give this a miss. it could also be its switched off.

The recommendation is to get a new one & have it reprogrammed. ... Is the airbag control module a normal wear item or should I expect that it would last the .... easily shipped, and you have the scanner that can reset any faults it may come with. ... I presume you mean SRS light. You need to find out what the code is. Seat belt buckle failure is common. Honda warranties seat belts for life, so if that's the failure, it is free.

Side bags will not be able to turn off! It is a safety function!

Yes!!! You can replace it yourself.(Dont let others fool you into paying extra or telling you otherwise.)
-This is for pontiac grand ams 1999-2005 only.
-There are no frontal airbag impact sensors nor are there belt tensioners.
-The SRS system consists of only the (driver airbag) ,(passanger airbag),and the (airbag control module) in 1999-2005 grand ams.

If you crash/wrecked and airbags deployed you will need.
-Driver and Passanger airbags
-Airbag control module

You can buy cheap airbags from a local junkyard any year from 1999-2005 will fit.
You can also find an airbag control module for cheap at your local junk yard BUT YOU MUST FIND ONE WITH THE SAME (PART NO.) AND (SERV NO.) AS THE ONE YOUR REPLACING.The (part no.) and (serv no.) should be at top left of airbag control module.However it does (Not) have to match numbers under barcode or the numbers at the far bottom right of airbag control module.

After you get both airbags and airbag module
-Disconnect car Battery
-Replace airbags
-Replace airbag module (under passanger seat)
-Double check all connections and connect battery.

Congradulations!Your airbags should be back online.

Notes: Two torx 35 head screws hold the driver airbag, access is through two holes behind steering column.
To remove passanger airbag you have to remove glovebox it uses (7mm)screws.After you remove you will see a pair of (10mm)screws holding airbag.
To remove airbag control module First remove passanger seat 2(15mm).Then after removing you will notice a raises area kinda like a vertical bump.Take a razor blade to your carpet and cut it to explose the module underneath.
The airbag module is held by three screws depending on the year of your car it varies.Most likely 3 (10mm).

Code 52 relates to low voltage detected in a capacitor inside the airbag module. 45 seconds after key on, this capacitor should have a voltage of around 23 volts.

This capacitor stores energy to deploy the airbag in the case of a collision.

Because your airbag light is on, your system is deactivated (cannot deploy)

In your case, the airbag computer detects less than 23 volts at that capacitor 45 seconds after key on, and disables the system.

There is a diagnostic procedure involved in fixing this problem, but usually means a bad airbag module (computer)

This should only be checked by a qualified technician, as airbag service can be dangerous and there are strict procedures to follow so the bags don't inflate suddenly and cause injury.
