2003 Honda Pilot Logo

My 2003 Honda Pilot has been having starting problems the past several months. When I put the ingition key in and try to start the vehicle, the meters go wild and start vibrating. I jump start the vehicle and it started ok. Originally, I thought it was the battery so I replaced it with a brand new Diehard Gold battery. The code on the radio display shows code (need to input the code) and the CD that is in the system is ejected. Any idea what is the issue?

My problem is not with the code. I have it. My problem is with starting the vehicle. This is just one of the symptoms.

No, this is the first time I had the problem after the batter was replaced.

The vehicle was running normally before I parked it and turned it off. When I tried to restart it the meters were vibrating and making click sounds without starting.

    Any further information for me?

Oh, almost forgot, in respects to the gauges you would need to see if there is an intermittent short on the cluster, this could be related to a bad battery or to the radio (though it would be a first for it to be connected to the radio). Have you been having trouble starting the car since the battery was replaced, and when did you first notice the cluster doing this?

okay, and you say that the needles are vibrating or would you say they are making more of a sweeping motion?

2003 Honda Accord. Dies when I try to put it in drive

you are having a problem with your alternator. the battery has a main purpose to start the vehicle, keep computer memory, and give power to electrical components when the key is in the on position. the alternator charges the battery and gives power to electrical components when the vehicle is running. now when you hit the brakes there was an extra load added to the alternator and if the car died then the alternator is running very weak and needs to be relace.

Dealer cut a new key for Pilot but it won't work

If the key fits mechanically, and the lock turns, then the key has been cut correctly. However if it just won't start the vehicle, then the transponder chip within the key will need programming. The dealer should have the equipment to do this. Do not accept a key that does not start the car - and certainly don't pay unless it does.

Key won't turn on 2003 Hoda Pilot

Sometimes the steering wheel will put pressure on the switch from the steering lock. Try this:
- insert the key that usually works
- with your foot on the brake, make sure the shifter is fully in park
- while turning the key, move the steering wheel left or right firmly
