I have a 1996 Dodge Caravan 3.3 Litre engine. How do I change out the old oil pressure sensor with a new one. I know where it's located. Is it a repair I can do Myself?

Hi, the sensor is located on the back side of the engine block, just above the oil pan. Crawl underneath the engine and look at the back side of the engine block. The crankshaft position sensor is in the center of the block, approximately 10 inches above the oil pan. It is made from black plastic and has a two-wire connector attached to it.
There is some sort of diagnostic code stored in either the ECM(engine computer) or TCM(transmission computer). There are many sensors and solenoids and other data parameters that can cause a codes to set other than just the oxygen sensors. You will need to have the code(s) pulled to know where to start.
1 yes the pump could be bad, but it is not likely.
2 yes it is in the oil pan.
3 yes you can change it without pulling the engine, though it is not easy.
Most common problem for your oil pressure reading to be going away, is the oil pressure sending unit(sensor) it is located next to the oil filter, check and replace if neccessary this sensor first and see if your oil pressure returns to normal. If not then you may have a pump problem. Hope this helps, let me know.
no reset for that!! check your oil pump pressure with a gauge and insure you have a working oil pump also check the oil filter to make sure the internal check valve isnt stuck! or the filter clogged or worn rod/main bearings
Mounted on the trany is a speedometer sensor. The vehical will not up-shift it, sensor, is malfunctioning. The vehicles computer doesn't know that it is not going fast enough to change gears.
What engine code(s) are you getiing? Try cycling key to, on ,off, on, off, on & leave on. (not start) now count flashes from check engine light. will be flashes, pause ,flashes for 2 digit #'s. For example: 2 flashes , pause, 2 more is code 22. 3 flashes, pause, 3 more, is code 33. Write them down & get back to us. By the way when you get 55, thats end of message.
is engine light on?may have a faulty input or output speed sensor or solenoid pack..should have trouble codes..if it's 3 speed trans, possible internal problem..need to know if it's 4speed or 3 speed trans
