I have a 1992 jeep yj 2.5L I bought. The oxygen sensor wires were cut right off when I bought it. I had to replace the oxygen sensor. the wires on the new sensor are black, grey, and two whites. The wires in the harness that i have are black, grey, green with black stripe, and blue with orange stripe. Which wires go together?

PCV bad. (or its hose pinched, clogged or even backward)

1. PCV is failing fix this first for $5 or remove it and see how bad blow by is. visually. (remove only valve covers side to test )
2. or cracked or collapsed piston.
3. or cracked head gasket, compression tests pass?

yes one of the best jeeps are YJ, not full 10 stinking married computers , wish every day I never sold my 2002,
2002 is the last good jeep IMO

blow by is most mostly past bad piston rings, even warped cylinder from past overheated engine,

The YJ used a 2.5 L AMC 150 I4 or optional 4.2 L AMC 258 I6 until 1990

which one, 4 or 6 cylinders.???

i guess you dont know that only the main harness colors are standard (jeep) Jeep does no dictate sensor wires.
if the sensor has pig tail wire they are not standard colors. (only pinout matters)
just like the oxygen senors made by all companies.

the sensors are made by many a company and the colors are not standard. only the pin plug are standard.!!! a fact.

why not just plug it in, like it was day one.
my guess, is you dont know the fact above and are worried only?
or is the connector harness all hacked to H3LL. (not stated)

well i would think the crankshaft position sensor it bad/in wrong position/or the bell housing holds the crank sensor to far away from flywheel.if my memory is correct anything other than the jeep bellhousing wont work with the jeep fuel ign. system

the crankshaft position sensor controls spark and if faulty would give the symptons you have described you need to get this checked first

It's a module under dash programmed to turn on Maintenance light. You can pay $80 to replace module or pull wire going to module and save $80. BTW, it's there to tell you to replace your Oxygen sensor.

try this site for resolve oil and resolve petrol system addertive for old cars. amitech . its good i typed into computer sludge in petrol tank but they have lots of products that might help before you do anything as these products clean the engine

The sensor for the speedometer is in the tailshaft of the transmission its called a vss vehicle speed sensor,all you have to do is unplug the plug and unthread it and replace.

im not sure if it is your problem but i would try replacing your throttle position sensor on the throttle body. it has a simple two wire conector and two torx bolts. mine was cutting out and stalling and sputtering and that was my fix

My 97 cherokee catalytic converter was stolen, oxygen sensor wires cut. the replacement is black, grey and white. the jeep is different color. i need help knowing which wires get connected to which.
