With a voltage meter see how many volts are at the starter terminal. If not 12+ volts you have a bad connection. Check connection at the starter solenoid. Does it have 12+volts? Short the solenoid. Does it put voltage to the starter?
Sounds like a timing chain , worst case, Would you say it's turning over almost too freely?? Look under your cap, and turn motor over, the rotor shouldn't turn if the timing chain is gone, but may turn if it jumped it's timing. Then you'll have to have a look under the timing cover . let me know if this helps
Sounds like a dead battery. Do the lights come on and radio work? Maybe the lights are dimmer than normal or the door is no longer dinging when opened. Also another way to tell when the battery is not getting any juice to the car. You may be able to get the car started using jumper cables. I would take it to a parts store immediately and have them check it (almost always free).
One easy thing (which is free and a maintenance item) is to clean the battery terminals and cable terminals. These can get very corroded and actually cause the battery to stop charging when the car is running. They may just need a good cleaning and a jump. It might take care of it!
Probably not the starter, but also an outside chance (full disclosure).
Take the starter off for testing. If the lights were normally bright, and went dim when key was in cranking position, it means the start circuit is working-battery power is going to the starter, but it won't do anything. The starter motor is probably bad.
Good luck.
check to make sure yu have 12v at the battery, once you do turn the ignition to start, if nothing, check the fuse and relays that control ignition, if all is good then the click sound is coming from the starter, have the solenoid replace.
