A major service would not cover what is probably causing this issue. You need to clean the Throttle Body and Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF). They get dirty with carbon and burnt on oil. It is an easy job to clean as shown in the videos. Make sure you clean both sides.
What does a bad transmission bearing sound like?
If you hear a humming noise in all gears, you may be dealing with a worn or damaged shaft or bearing. If you hear a growling noise specifically while moving, it is usually caused by a bad input shaft bearing. If that's the case, you will be able to hear grinding in any gear, at any engine speed.
Hi GJ, If the box is auto check the oil level in the box. You should do that with the park brake fully employed and the engine at idle speed with the selector in neutral. If the box is manual check the clutch adjustment, it should take about two and a half inches up from the floor. If the notchy change is only on one gear you may have a synchromesh cone problem and that means a box rebuild. Regards John

the daewoo lanos has no dipstick. The owners manual suggests that you take the car to a dealer to have them check it. Im sure they want you to pay them for frivolous things. Hence daewoo is no longer sold in usa. I wonder why
Answer #2 A grey plastic plug with a large screwdriver slot in it located on the top of the transmission box when unscrewed and removed reveals a small dipstick attached to the underside of the plastic plug. This is also where you add any new transmission oil should you drain it or need to top it up.
