I have a 1992 subaru svx with a couple of problems. 1. all of the gauges arent working except the tempeture gauge and i dont know why. everything else works inside the car lights, a\c, radio. ive checked the fuses and they all seem to be fine. we were told that when the security system was installed the car started shutting off. i took out the fuse for the security system and car no longer shut off but ran fine. but when i would put the fuse back in the alarm would immediatley when off and when i tried to reset it wouldn't work. the alarm was still going off while the car was on as well.....any ideas?anyone know what might have caused that?

The alarm system was most likely not installed correctly, when you install an alarm system you need to know what you are doing or you can cause countless problems in wiring, as for the gauges i would suggest checking all wiring behind the cluster (gauge panel) look for wires that have been cut and if you can not find anything i strongly suggest taking it to a mechanic for trouble shooting.

92 suburu svx it has wiring gremlins check engin light comes on sometimes but I lf I turn the car off and restart it, then it's gone. And gas gadge doesn't work sometimes come on. And no cruse...

The check engine light will set a code, to read this code you must have the system scanned with a special tool. This is not a wiring GREMLIN, trust me. As far as the gas gauge goes you will need to pull the fuel tank out and replace the gas gauge fuel level sending unit.

I have a 92 Subaru SVX and I wanted to know if a transmission out of a WRX STI (manual) would bolt up?

It has been done before. There are change-over kits available from multiple sources. Google: Subaru SVX manual transmission conversion (or something like that). There is an outfit called Small Car something. They put Subaru powerplants in VW Vanagons...

How do i change alternator belt on 1992 subaru svx

Remove the plastic cover held on by two 10mm hexbolts. Slide cover forward (dont try to lift up).

Below the Power Steering pump is a pulley. This is the belt tensioner. With a 12mm box-end wrench, loosen pulley bolt.

There is a 12mm bolt that extends from the pulley at a right angle. Turn this bolt counter-clockwise to loosen, and clockwise to tighten. Make sure you loosen the belt enough to easily slip it off the alternator pulley. Put on new belt and reverse disassembly process.

I have a 1992 svx and my air conditioner does not get cold enough to be comfortable it might need refrigerant how would i go about doing that myself and what type of refrigerant

hi the refridgerant changed in certain models but all the details should be written in the engine bay somewhere like the amount needed and the type, but you will also need the right gauges for the gas and scales to measure the amount your putting in

Engine runs great, everything seems to work but since buying it yesterdday it has just died going down the road 3 different times, then sometimes starts right up and other times it needs to sit a minute...

hi if the check engine light comes on i would start by changing fuel filter or fuel pump, however sometimes sensors dont trigger the check engine light and if it doesnt come on i would pull out the cam and crank sensors and clean them as they maybe dirty and causing the spark to die randomly
