check oil filter, sometimes gasket from old filter is still on engine and when tou have 2 gaskets, (the old one and new one on new filter) it will hemmorage out oil pretty quick. next time check to see if gasket is on old filter when it is removed. I found that out after $30 worth of Mobil 1 poured out on my driveway.

The drain valve is attached to the fuel filter with 4 screws with the star head. You can use a correct size van allen wrench to unscrew these screws (which is hard to do with little space) and put your new drain valve in. The new drain valves have huge O rings that work better than the seemingly non existent washers that come from the factory. You will first need to take out your fuel filters and drain the filter body because when you take the water drain valve off, all the diesel will come out any way. This is a good time to take apart your whole fuel filter and clean it out good. An air compressor works great. Be careful with the plug in fuel heating element if you do take the plate off that it just under the filter (two allen screws). You can unplug it and clean the bottom of your filter housing so your water drain does not plug up with the stuff on the bottom of the filter housing.

2003 Chevy Trailblazer

First you reach for the tab near the center of each "half" of the back seat bottom at the back (in the crack of the seat). Pull the tab forward and up, pivoting the bottom of the seat toward the front. Ensure the front seats are forward enough to allow the seat bottom to lie flat on the floor. Next, reach up along the (outer) side of the seat back, and lift the lever, while folding the seat back forward. You may need to pivot or remove the headrest(s). The seat back should lie flush atop the upside down seat bottom. This works for my 2002 Olds Bravada, which is supposed to be similar. Good luck!

1996 Ford Aerostar 3.0 L V-6 Constant check engine light ON Ran codes. Code says vacuum leak on fuel canister. I'd like to change all the vacuum lines. Don't have a good schematic. Haynes manual only...

what codes?

The vacuum lines run from the canister to the intake manifold. One is the purge hose to deliver stored fuel vapor to the intake to be burnd when engine is warm and you are crusing at part throttle. The other line is the vacuum line to operate it.

Fuel Vapor Valve, Aerostar (4.0L Engine) The evaporative emission valve (9B593) uses a small orifice, 1.83mm (0.072 inch), that allows vapors to pass into the vapor line running forward to the evaporative emissions canister (EVAP canister) (9D653). This evaporative emission valve mounts directly into the fuel tank (9002) using a fuel vapor separator seal. Fuel vapors trapped in the sealed fuel tank are vented through the orificed evaporative emission valve. The vapors from the fuel tank leave the evaporative emission valve through a single vapor line and continue to the evaporative emissions canister in the engine compartment for storage.

Fuel Vapor Canister Purge Regulator Valve, Aerostar, Ranger Removal and Installation
  1. Disconnect wire harness from evaporative emission canister purge valve (EVAP canister purge valve) (9C915).
  1. Disconnect wire harness from thermistor.
  1. Disconnect evaporative emission canister purge valve assembly from fuel vapor canister and throttle body.
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure.

I am trying to replace the fuel filter on my 1999 Dodge Ram 24 valve Cummins engine. It looks like the lid of the housing canister for the fuel filter is fixed, so do I just remove the top center nut so...

You are correct. The nut on top of the canister is loosened and the canister drops down. First - disconnect the electrical pigtail for the water sensor (at the bottom of the canister. Second - turn the water fuel bleed valve (yellow) near the top front of the canister to control spillage when you do remove the canister. The new filter comes with new O ring seals. Moisten with claean diesel and install. Add clean diesel to the newly installed filter and you will have an easier start up.

My car is leaking oil out of nowhere is a slow steady small stream only while running it is a 2003 mitsubishi lancer

Could be your front crankshaft seal or your oil sending unit, these two are the most likely. But have it check out, low oil will do some major engine damage.

Fuel leaking from filter canister area on a 2000 f350

I believe this is a diesel right? If so there is a water drain valve on the bottom of the canister that the lever can leak. Check the oring on the cap to check and see if it is leaking down the side, also check the fuel lines coming out for a leaking or blown oring.

Fuel spits back while fueling

there is a canister that is approx. 3x7x10 in., this is the evap.canister, it has a hose that goes to a small can. could be rectangle or round, has a sensor, this the canister vent filter, im not positive this will cause a filling problem, but, these filters are prone to plugging with dirt. hope this helps.

1985 diesel after sitting overnight will not start

The check valve is a small brass fitting where the return line attaches to the filter head. I believe it takes a 7/16" wrench. There is a 'duck bill' inside that prevents fuel from leaking back to the tank causing air in the system. It should allow flow in only on direction. Some times you can see light through it if it's bad enough. Also, the lines between the injectors can dry out and start to leak air. Air will leak in before fuel leaks out, and you won't see it. There are plastic, cup-shaped connectors for these hoses that press onto the top of each injector. They are sealed by two o-rings on each injector body where it meets the connector. These o-rings can dry out and also leak air and fuel. Your Ford dealer or diesel service professional should have the proper o-rings. Any other o-rings might not seal, as they won't be the exact size. You already changed the fuel solenoid when you replaced the pump. It is inside. There has to be battery cranking voltage to it while cranking, and battery voltage with key in 'on' position. The wire attaches to the top of the pump. This is not likely to be the problem, since it restarts every 2 hours.
