Why is a 2001 VW tdi 1.9 with 93,000 miles blowing large cloud of white smoke? is this a major repair? after this happened checked and it is showing no oil or anything on dipstick for oil. oil was just changed 1,000 miles ago. is it a turbo or injector issue? Should i add oil and see if it still smokes? I don't have a clue what direction to go with this..this is my first diesel vehicle

I'm affraid it's the turbo that is faulty, and it's not a cheap job. the turbo has a oil pipe going to the turbo to lubricate the turbo bearing . When the bearing wears out the oil enters the engine and burns causing to smoke. Good luck

I have a 2000 Chrysler Concorde and when i talk off from being stoped for a little bit it blows out it big cloud of white smoke then its gone right away... what could it be??

White smoke is possibly coolant from a bad head gasket or possibly intake gasket, depending on engine design.

When you say big cloud,I assume the vehicle is warmed up all the way and this happens a lot.

You should check to see if you have coolant in the recovery bottle under the hood,if not or it blows bubbles into it,I wouldn't use the vehicle, even to go around the corner.

It most likely needs to be torn down and repaired, after some initial tests are done.

Just replace Turbo in 2001 Jetta TDI. Car has

if the old turbo blew, chances are you have swarf in the top of the cylinders and it has burnt the valve seats.white smoke is normally unburnt fuel/water mix.also if the car has been standing it could be just condensation it the exhaust pipes which will dissipate when car is left to run until very hot or thrashed for about 10 mins.hope its the latter.....

Grand prix has a 3.1 6cyl. and 166000 mile, it blow white smoke

Sorry to inform you of the bad news but the white smoke is engine coolant burning off and the rough running condition is also associated with coolant leaking into the combustion chambers. This will be a head gasket repair, basically a head job where you will need to machine the heads down and install new gaskets from the heads up.Get back to me if you have any more questions, thanks and I hope I could help!!!

check the pcv valve if bad it will allow engine to **** oil into the air intake and cause smoke, another things is to test the head gasket could be burning a little coolant

It is sometimes hard to start my jetta tdi. When this happens and I finally get it started, qite a bit of thick smoke comes out of the exhaust. Any thoughts?

It is hard starting my VW 2003 Jetta. It usually take 5 to 10 cranking before it turns over. Then it run normally. It only happens when the car has not been driven for about 6 hours.
